how to put .5 RUU on your phone

So i have the .6 RUU, and i downloaded the .5 RUU from XDA....now how do i run it since i have the file on my computer...noob here

You should just plug your phone into the computer via usb then run the RUU installer.

i'm going to root my friend's phone for them. i've done my own, but i did it when i was on 1.5 verson, and now he's finally wanted to root his phone yet he's on 2.27.651.6. After i download the RUU Installer, plug his phone in my computer, debugging off or on???, and then run the installer. correct?

And also, would rooting his phone on my computer have any effect on my phone or my computer?

Well I downloaded it, but its a programless file, were do I download the launcher from?!

The download is like a 118mb zip so look for a way to extract it. And no, you'll be fine rooting any hero from your computer. I'm not positive on whether usb debugging should be on or off, I'd try it with it off, if it fails you'll know to turn it on.
