Humor App on Android Market, Porno Movie Title Generator - NOT PORN (High Maturity though)

Hi everybody,
just wanted to use this forum to shamelessly promote my humorous app, the "Porno Movie Title Generator". This is not porn, I repeat, not porn, but filthy humor (high maturity). Anyway its a simple app that takes movie titles, or any other text the user types in, and converts it into a porno movie title. It's kind of like dirty mad-libs. (Warning, contains graphic language and profanity).
Just wanted to get the word out if there are any other android users looking for a filthy minded laugh. Here's a link to the market, I'm selling it for $1 :

No it's funny because if you input a movie title and press the button, say "Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom" it might output something silly like "Lesbian Jones and the Nipple of Doom" (actual result) or "Good Will Humping" etc. Thats the joke. It is text based. And I repeat, not porn.

Why would I pay $1 for this porn app when I can get all of the porn I want for free?

Why would I even download a FREE app for this? I can remember about, I dunno, 10 years ago when the "internet generation" learned how to write simple scripts for websites that we had all sorts of:

Band name generator
lord of the rings name generator
pirate name generator
disco name generator

etc
etc



I don't understand why so many people think that making an app out of something that is already a website is a good idea, is creative in any way whatsoever, or that they'll be able to charge for said apps. Especially when the website they are copying isn't even useful.


I'm not sure if this particular dev ripped off another website for this or not; however, there are clearly apps that are built this way. Is there some sort of complain mechanism on the market? A developer blacklist? We should all refuse to support developers who rip off website content in this way and try to make a profit.

In the Market Help forum might be a decent place to try. Would be hard to get much traction though (I'd guess)

Other thing you could do is notify the content owner as they can issue a DMCA takedown that Google must comply with. <- this is probably the more effective method

First of all, I have not found this on a website. And I have looked. Why don't you start looking before you accuse me of plagiarism? There is the "Porn Star Name Generator" on android market, but I haven't found this. So please stop hating on an app you have never used, OK?

I think he was saying he had no idea if your app was, but knew of other apps that did steal content.

I think your app is a funny idea too, if a bit simplistic and lowbrow. But we all love a good lowbrow fart app now and then.

Anyways let's keep it civil. As a fellow app dev I'd just remind you that you're in the spotlight, and killing your critics with kindness is likely the best route

As a Guide for AF I'd remind you we allow people to speak their minds here if they dislike apps, as long as they are civil.

This. Alostpacket is a very active and helpful member of this forum, in addition to being an app developer. There are also two other app developers (less active in this forum) that I have a lot of respect for, due to their responses to suggestions/criticism/requests for help. I wouldn't hesitate... no that isn't strong enough... I would go out of my way to support one of those developers by purchasing a paid version or even using their app over a competitor.


Again, I don't know ALXT dev, so I'm not accusing you of anything. However, I do feel there are a lot of developers who follow the model of:

1) Copy an idea or content online
2) Wrap it in an app
3) Profit?

No creativity. No patience for feedback. No customer service skills. They are looking to make a quick buck with minimum effort and nothing more.

Those are the kind of developers that I will go out of my way to avoid supporting.

Thanks for clearing that up. But I'd like to add that the "Porn Star Name Generator" is, from my understanding completely different from my app, the "Porno Movie Title Generator". My app is a kind of dirty word mad-lib that plays with any string of text, and converts it into a completely different phrase. The results are variable and some inputs produce much funnier results. But on the whole I think it could be a funny diversion for movie geeks.

I know I am biased as the developer but, I think it's a bit more clever than your average "Which Twilight Character Are You?"-type app.

Sounds like a "Fun" app but i don't know about other people,
but to me these sort of apps are the kind I play with for a bit then delete.
Is there a way you can make it free with advertising? (I don't know how these things work) As i don't see myself and people like me paying for a novelty app.

Maybe that's a good idea. I'm new to android development so I don't know how to get ads embedded, or how the monetization would work. But hey I'll do some research.
