Im having trouble downloading mp3 or ringtones

Can u help? I have owned my HTC Desire now for two weeks and can download apps and games from the Android market with no problems, but when I try and download a ringtone or mp3 song from any ringtone application I just get a instant "ringtone download failed" message and nothing happens. I belive this could be a setting stopping music / ringtone downloads. I have tried four different ringtone apps and it happens on all of them. Please please please can somebody advise how to fix this......

goto apps market and download tune mix then u can download any song and even bluetooth it to anyone

It's not the app that's the problem its the phone. I can download any ringtone app and they search and play the ringtones but won't download to the phone. It's really stressing me....... please help !!!
