Just had an OTA update but still running 4.04 first thing I've noticed is the sumertime notification has changed from a sun with 1 in to a clock. Will see what else has canged as and when

Just downloaded. First thing I've noticed is brightness control in notification dropdown, plus a few extra sound icons in the device options menu, silent, vibrate, normal.

On 3 UK unbranded

Yep - just got this too... UK O2 network.

When you long hold the power button to bring up the "Device Options" screen, there are a few new icons at the bottom to toggle between sound options... sound off, vibrate, & sound on.

The separate brightness level for the default browser has been removed, and renamed "Colours". The brightness level of the browser is now linked to the level of the phone in general...

Also when in a call, a little speaker (called extra volume) appears over the contact photo

The AccuWeather widget is now updating with my correct location automatically...
And the "1" in the sun has gone. Now it's a clock/sun symbol.

email conversation view has been update with titles for the conversations...

Also available on T-mobile UK.

72.68mb update, downloaded in 4 minutes.

Latest version i9300XXLFB

Any way a mod could sticky, or maybe do some kind of banner, to announce firmware updates and if they are international / USA etc, to raise awareness?

Don't want to jinx myself, but I haven't been able to force the browser close/redraw problem so far... early days though, too soon to tell if it's been fixed.

OS updates are what iPhone users brag about having over other phone makers, all the time. Samsung is showing them that they can do it too. The S3 is a new device and will likely be getting more updates as needed to fix any glitches and even add features.

new icon in the camera that allows you to select balck & white, negative or none for your shots. Oh and other settings as well if you scroll that list. Whoppeeeee!!!

I think Samsung knows it has a winner. If this is any sign, Jelly Bean will be coming sooner rather than later. They want to seize and keep the lead before the Iphone 5 comes out in the fall. Way to go Samsung.

P.S. Verizon: Don't screw up this update by holding it forever.

No updates on Orange yet. In fact can't find the option to check for OTA updates. IIRC in the past it was under about device.

I seem to remember reading a thread here about some Orange branded phones having the update option removed... is it a new phone?

[edit]

Here's the thread... http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/565077-orange-firmware.html
People were either sending them back to Orange to be replaced, or flashing the phone with a stock non-orange firmware.

Please note what carrier/variant you have when reporting OTAs. Remember, we have the International version as well as the 7 or so North American carriers that will probably have different OTA schedules.

It's pretty safe to assume that this is for the Int'l variant, however.

Still have the issue when using Chrome. But it's fine in the standard internet app
