Help Intranet Access works with iPhone but not with Android?

I've an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S) and an iPhone here and both are connected to my WLAN. With both I can surf in the internet via this WLAN. But only with the iPhone, I can also access the local intranet (e.g. via IP-Adress or PC name like http://my-pc/site1). With the android phone I get an error, that the page is not accessible.
Are there different behaviors of iPhone and Android, that can cause this problem? Or are there any other explanations of this problem?

if u ve a rooted phone then there is an app known as proxy droid in the market which wud do ur job...

I hoped for a solution without rooting my phone. Those simple things should work without any hacks ...
