I recently rebooted my HTC Evo 4g and somehow that lost all my Handcent messages. Is there anyway to recover it? I see a file called hcprivparts- that is almost 6.4 MB in size. Is this where the messages are store? Anyway for me to restore these messages? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!
i have not used handcent in a long while ( i use go sms), but i believe that you can save the messages to the sd card. however, it is not automatic and you have to tell it that that is what you want to do. now if you did not do it and everything is erased then they might be lost for good.

i'm not exactly sure what happened though. was it just a reboot? you did not do a factory reset, right?

no it was just a reboot... and get this everything was gone, IM's, contacts, all screen icons...and I mean everything was blank. I had to add it all back. I wouldn't know how to do a factory reset.

Moving forward I suggest you use SMS Backup & Restore to backup all of your SMS messages in case this happens again.
