Help magic...are you there?

Please help. neither my Pc or laptop allow me to access my magic via usb. It shows a removable drive, but says nothing connected when i try and open it.

Any ideas?

You should get an option on the phone to mount your sd card when it plugs into a computer... are you?

Nope. Not getting anything. And am wanting to root my handset at some point so gonna need it to connect.

OK, have you installed the HTC sync software? You shouldn't actually have to to mount the sd card but I'm just wondering...

Didn't know there was software. Nothing came in the box?

You have to download the software it doesn't come in the box, but it is NOT required to access the phone over USB.

What happens when you plug your phone into USB? Does it make any noise? Does any thing appear in the notification bar?

Also what operating system is your computer running? Some older versions of Windoze need a driver installed to recognise the Magic as a removable drive

I get the usual notification of a removable drive, and the USB symbol comes up on the phone..... I'm using XP. Ive updated the drivers but still nothing.

When you see the notification come up on the phone, drag the notification bar down and select the usb notification. That will mount your sd card.
