We have 2 Eris Droids in our house, when I download something it also shows up in the other droid in the house which is the main phone line for our verizon account. Is there anyway to change that or no?

Crazy, I used to have that problem with a phone I had before. If the other phone was powered off, it would only download to one phone. It was a hassle doing that though. And there's no guarantee it'll work with the Eris, but may be worth a try.

Are they both using the same google account? If so, change the google sign in for one of them.

Ya, we are using the same account as the other phone is the "master" phone line. I didn't think I could have a different google account for each phone.

Sure you can. Just create another.

The gmail account you use for the phone is more or less the center to which everything else revolves. It not only provides the email address to sync with, but the contacts and calendar as well. It is your identity in the Android market and allows the market to update apps along with keeping track of purchases you have made. When running the 2.1 OS you can have more than one gmail account synced to your phone, but no matter what you have to have a main gmail account for everything to connect with.

But I don't have the 2.1 as of yet.

You dont need it, just made a new google account and switch one of the phones to it.

Ok I'll give that a try! Thanks for putting up with my question. Then do I have to "point" the market to it?

No all you should have to do, is change one of the phones to a different gmail account, and you should be good to go.

Changing the default gmail account sounds simple lol. But requires a hard reset of the device. Unless someone can get Frisco in this thread, he has mentioned, recently, having a lot less painful way of changing it lol.

I went into the Android Market, menu, then help and after reading through it, it says I can't change my sign gmail account. It's not important enough to reset the phone. I'll just deal with it showing up on my phone and on my husband's phone.

You dont have to reset your phone

    go to menu>settings>apps>manage apps>

find gmail and clear data, there are a few other google apps you can clear data on them as well

once that is done click your gmail app icon and it will ask you to login, whalla.

YEAH it finally worked. I was just about ready to give up then I looked one more time to see if there was something I forgot to clear. And this shouldn't "mess up" anything for the account as a whole. Now I'll have to download something to see if it shows up on my husband's phone.

    Thanks!

That is because they are synced to the other account. online save or export them from your old google account and import them to the new account.

Ok I did that and it worked great! Now I'm trying to have it see my calendar or the original gmail account which I shared it but it's showing all that is on it?

In the original gmail account I had created an additional calendar so that events for just myself didn't show up on the "house" calendar. I shared that particular calendar on the original gmail account that the phones are connected to - we'll call it Carol. But when I log into on my phone with the new gmail account I created the Carol calendar isn't one that I can choose to view. So there's something Im missing in the step between exporting and importing.

Is the Carol calendar showing up in your google calendar on the computer?

If it is, then on your phone open the calendar and hit Menu > More > Calendars and make sure that there is a green check mark next to the Carol calendar. After it syncs the new calendar should be showing.

If I'm reading this right, it sounds like the Carol calendar needs to be told (doing this online) that it's shared with the new email account.
