Help Phone Broken?

So basically my phone wont charge my battery
i got a blinking amber light when i try to charge it
traded batteries with my sister's phone and plugged it in, and the amber light turns on, but the battery still drains

so i went to verizon store and they are sending me a replacement in 2 days
I was wondering how i can tell the difference between the AMOLED one and the TFT LCD one?

or if someone can help me try and fix my current one as i am phoneless =(

I could be wrong, but I believe they must make an official announcement that the screen has changed for production and inform customers ahead of time...
