I am posting this just to close out this thread. I accepted the conclusion that my Evo was kaput and began researching for a replacement, and yesterday I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3. So I'll be hanging out in the Samsung forums. I have had some great help from fellow Evo-ites over the past couple of years, and look forward to further Android adventures over in Galaxyland. I can hardly wait to see what ROMs will emerge...
