If using the PC Companion app to reinstall doesn't work, and you have tried running the program as administrator, then you could try using the flashtool to reinstall a ROM.

If you have already installed 2.3, and the PC Companion has a slightly older version, then what you might have to do is try to flash to an earlier version, like 2.1.

You could try and use the Flashtool and boot flash using a 2.1 generic ROM and then after 2.1 is installed (even if the phone doesn't boot...but it should at that point) You can then use PC Companion again, to update to whatever version it thinks you should have, or use the Flashtool to update to something else.

If it does flash the phone, then that is a good thing.

So, still the phone won't bootup?

What happens if you leave the phone plugged in and turn the phone on...you sure the phone isn't dieing when it is trying to turn on?

When you install things with the flashtool, are you checking the option to Wipe All Data when you chose to install that 2.1 generic ROM?

What you want to do is install an older version of Android than your provider allows you. If I use PC Companion it brings me back to 2.3.3....but I need to have 2.1 installed for me to do that.

If your provider only allows your phone to upgrade to 2.1, then you might have to install 1.6....then use PC Companion to upgrade to 2.1. There is a mobile phone provider in the states that did not release 2.3 to their customers and stopped providing support at 2.1. So for them...install 1.6 using flashtool (or an older version of 2.1) then use PC Companion to repair/upgrade to 2.1

To be honest, that Flashtool log looks good....phone should be working now as long as the phone has a working battery.

i use update service and i have the same problem... the phone has already the latest sofware... i need a program that downgrade my software or simply reset it to 2.3 official,i have to mention that update service is from official site of sony ericsson, and i'm trying to flash it to 2.1:thinking: but no luck,if i had already 2.1,the update service will allow me then to make update to 2.3

Example.

If your x10 came from AT&T, you can't update it to 2.3 using PC Companion or the Sony Update tool. The only way to update those phones to 2.3, is by using the Flashtool

So, if your phone happens to be from AT&T or another carrier that has refused to update their customers phones, then it PC Companion won't work unless you install an early version or 2.1 or install 1.6.

If you haven't, you might want to try and format the SDCard in the phone (if you have a laptop or PC with a media port, where you could plug that in and format it before reflashing the phone)

Maybe download the software for 1.6, then use the PC Companion to upgrade.....when you are using the PC Companion or Sony Update service, right click and Run as Administrator just to make sure there aren't any possible security or rights issues.

Remove the battery for 2 minutes, then stick it back in the phone. And when you try and turn the phone on, try and plug it (to give it power) it does do the one quick vibrate, it does nothing at all after that?

I don't know where a copy of 1.6 would be...probably somewhere on XDA's website.....but i can't find it. All their links are pretty much dead.

Have you only tried using x10i ROMs and not the x10a firmware? x10i ROMs didn't work on my x10i phone. I had to use the x10a generic ROM in order to install it on my phone...but then after I had the x10a kernel on there...then I could swap to other x10i ROMs.

When you try and install the 2.1 or 2.3 ROM using the flashtool, have you tried checking the box to Wipe All Data?

Maybe take me through step by step exactly what you are doing when you try and install the 2.1 or 2.3 ROM?

You could try using the x10a software instead....that worked for me.

http://androidforums.com/x10-all-th...-g-0-75_america-us-generic-1233-8200-zip.html

If you install xRecovery you can wipe all the battery data and other partitions.

Have you tried that too? Even if the phone doesn't startup all the way, you might be able to root it, then maybe install xRecovery....if you can boot into xRecovery, you could wipe davlik cache, wiper battery stats and do a factory reset.
