Help **Request** Ascend PRL 3020 Update Tutorial

Is 3020 the only PRL available for the Ascend? Friend has 3021. (I'll post a screen when I can get a hold of the phone)

I was going to do the PRL update that was posted until I noticed for the first time my phone had this.

Did a speed test and this came up.

Gotta say, I like this, could defiantly be better but...I'm not gonna complain =| Just gotta say, how'd my two friends get 21, one an Ascend, the other the M835...
 
where is this device manager i need to open ? i connect my phone hit the config tab and it shows a few ports not connected. i think im missing something here. i am on windows 7 if that matters

The device manager on your computer, Open your windows start menu and do a search for Device Manager and youll see it.
 
ok i open device manager i plug my phone in and it does not recognize it as a port, i already have usb driver stuff on my comp since when i go to the usb drivers rar and extract and run pcpo options a screen pops up and the icon to the left says uninstall drivers, so i woudl have to have them installed first to have the option to uninstall. im currently on cm7 im restoring a verison of pg 2.2 to see if thats the reason it wont read the phone as a port.

Try Disconnect your phone, Uninstall the drivers, reinstall them then hook your phone back up.
 
ok im on pgs 2.2 and it still wont see it as a port i tried everything i read in here and when its plugged in all it says is under other devices it shows android adapter with a yellow ! . what am i missing
 
I hope im not out of line here but when I was changing my prl I must have done something wrong because now im not getting any data at all only calls and sms but no internet or mms even after i did a recovery still not getting anything I was using Qpst i must have done something wrong can anyone post photo shots of there qpst settings like if there is anything on Mip and ppp basically any settings that deals with data .. can anyone please help

Its not under that. Look down the list by Portable Devices and Processors and you'll see "Ports" expand it and the port you want to put into QPST Config is next to "DBAdapter Reserved Interface" also you want to mount your phone.

That means theres not 3g signal in your area. Call *228 press 5 on the key pad and your phone will down load the 3019 PRL back on your phone and your data will work.
 
I have done the *228 but that does nothing but change the prl ... yeah Ive connected it with qpst thats easy but where do I find where to enter the internet settings .. but I still get know internet. I have full bars just no internet ... is there anything under root explorer i can do to edit anything
 
What PRL does it say is on your phone?


If it changed your PRL back to 3019 you should have data. Try rebooting the phone.

i know its not under that im just saying thats the only thing that pops up, does not show ports with phone plugged in, if i plug my printer in it will short the port the printer is on but not the phone. i tired uninstalling drivers and reinstalling and still nothing

its 3019 but still no data turned the phone off by pulling the battery out while phone still on and all still nothing ... do you know where i can find the internet settings at so i can compare it to what i have ... thanks for helping out.... I get sms and phone calls just no mms and no internet the only way to get internet is to put on wifi ... but when I turn wifi off no internet
 
ok i got it to work, now shows prl 3020 in my phone but still only lists cmda i thought it was supposed to list evdo also? or is that only if im in a area with 3g?

Go into settings and turn "Airplane" mode on and off a couple times to try and reset the connection.

It wont switch to EvDo if youre not in a 3G area. It will stay as 1xRTT and switch to EvDo if you are in an area with 3G. Then when you are back in an area that doesnt get 3G it will switch back to 1xRTT
 
thanks for clearing that up, i have not had any data issues either, i also did the read from phone before the write to phone if that made any difference

I have tried the airplane mode on and off like 5 times still not working

latinmazda which ROM are you running? Did you flash recently?

M835 ROM on your ascend?? Or you have M835? The reason I ask is because I wasn't able to get usb to work properly while running CM7. So I flashed PlayfulMod 1.1 but I had no data with that ROM. I was however to push the 3020prl with it since USB works properly. I then flashed to CM6 and the PRL remained as 3020 and I have 3G.

Are you looking under ports? Sorry got to ask. Some people forget to look there.

Secondly like Codawg said this wont work on all ROMs. Alot of people are having problems with it showing up in ports on some of PGs builds. I have BobZ's build and had no problem after I installed the drivers. It may be because of the build you are on. I havent came across anyone that I know of that has successfully did this while on one of PG's 7.1 roms. 7.2 I know of 2. All great builds (If he put a 729 kernel in 7.2 I'd switch back. Cough cough PG!) but for some reason those 7.1s do not like mounting those ports.

If you do have the M835 and not the M860 Ascend, I personally dont know jack about that phone. Seen reviews online but thats about it. I cant even tell you if this would work on the 835. Everyone here is running Ascends. Thats why this thread is in the Huawei Ascend forum and not the M835 (If AF even has one yet) forum. One process may work for one phone but that doesnt mean it would work for another. You really need to make sure you are in the right forums for your phone.
 
Under ports, there is no DBAndroid or whatever, there is an android adapter section, but that's not in Ports and is the only the only mention of it. There's printer and something on COM 1 but nothing android.
