Help **Request** Ascend PRL 3020 Update Tutorial

so i pay my bill and im getting 3g faster speeds yes!!!! ok i check to see if the basic things i need are working calling and texting both working here is the problem i text three people on different carriers sprint, t mobile(ATT lol), and metropcs i only got a reply from the person with metro seems like texting people on different carrier is a prolblem but if u have any sloution let me know please... if did *228 will everything return back to normal... THANKS:):D:(:o
 
So Im on PGs newest 0912 build. And went to force my PRL and of course ports didnt show up. And my BobZ back up went to shit, when I try to restore it I get md5 mix match. But I found out if you reboot into recovery and go to mounts and storage and select mount usb doesnt matter what build you are on the ports will show up and you can continue to force the prl. Just for future reference

nice share, and also if you get md5 mix match, make sure you are trying to restore the backup with the cwm recovery you backed it up with, found that solution when i first got the phone back in December...;)
 
Yeah its the same CWR. 3.0.2.8 But what I did was I restored the boot.img from BobZ's build while running PG's build and it gave me Bob's 729 kernel. So Im running PG's build with Bob's kernel. And after that is when I got the md5 mix match. Before it restored fine. Check it out I took this last night:

oh yeah you will get that if you mix match, lol
 
so this girl has my class and she have the huawei ascend like me she must of heard me talking about my 3g and she want me to do the prl update... the thing is she is on the stock 2.1 will the update still work if she is on 2.1??? or should i play it safe and do it the way it was always done upgrade her phone to 2.2 then do the prl update to get her 3g she live in my area so she will get 3G like me..??:o:confused::D

you should upgrade , cause one is through metro & free. i recently did my bosses phone upgrade both 2.2 & 3023 PRL.

You should hook her up on CM7 then force it and she'll probably "pay" you. :D Ahahaha
 
does this work on cm7 07282011 build i cant seem to find the diag mode so qpst can find my phone and ive been researching this all morning


edit: Or should i update cm7 or try a new Rom
 
Reboot into recovery and go to mounts and storage and go to mount usb and the ports should show. If thats what you are having problems with

Wow that was a quick reply! Thanks.. :D was just going to edit my post to say i *228 to go back to 3019 to check and its blank also so maybe its nothing.. now I know about the build.prop :) back to 3024 :D Don't get 3G in the area I'm at (Ocala, FL) but not surprised as I barely get signal at the house.. Heading to Jacksonville / St Augustine area this weekend.. I'll keep an eye on it and post results.. thanks again..

Edit: Btw, ran through the build.prop a few times but nothing jumped out at me for network.. was on phone so don't have search option.. do you know the field off hand that needs to be edited?
 
No that was a goof on my part. Off the top of my head I thought it was in the about phone section and not the phone status section. My bad. Ahaha If it was in the about phone section you could edit it in.
 
Quick note for anyone who is not seeing a port number next to Android Adapter ADB Interface in device manager.. (I remember seeing a few posts about this while looking for something else but can't seem to find them again so don't know if its been answered or not..) What worked for me was in QPST goto add port, then uncheck the box that says show serial and USB/QC Diagnostic ports only.. It should show a few devices.. I just added them all and one of them was listed as SURF7625-Linux.. Used that one and all went smoothly..

this worked like a charm .. i just finished doing it now for cm7 useres will the 3g icon appear or will it stay as 1x??? just wondering

thx so much!!! was wondering what the problem was. I have prl 3024 along with the cm7.2 seems a little faster but i have yet to see the 3G sign. that annoying 1x is what i keep. guess i gotta do some moving around to find out if it made a serious difference
 
Just updated to prl 3024 on my CM7 Huawei Ascend. Works prefect picked up 3G immediately(I live in Dallas TX). If anyone needs the 3024 i can post it. Thanks to the OP who posted directions on how to do the PRL update.
