the fatal error you are getting using the elite method is most likely due to ministro. its using lg libraries and some other things the venture just wont know what to do with.

^If anyone missed it in my post about it, don't miss it here. This makes the Venture so much better.also, i ADB does recognize my phone, thats how i have set the phone storage to sd card as default, and have used a ADB method to unlock sending alot more apps to my sd card.
google "how to move any app to my sd card" it shows using adb and setting the line -
$pm setInstallLocation 2
it worked, so i know adb recognizes it, and is able to change things, otherwise i would not be able to move an app like Facebook to my sd.best of luck people, ill keep checking in.
Also: When you move something to SD it leaves a stub in internal memory. Some things leave a larger piece than others. Oddly, the exact same apps installed by VM's "Mobile ID" package move much more completely to SD than downloaded individually from Play. After moving it to my SD card, facebook took 10 or 12MB when I got it myself. When I got it from MobileID it took 2.2MB. Just beware that Mobile ID messes with icons, ringtones, settings, etc when you install it, at least the mandatory "Essentials" pack.
Yeah, I got the feeling that it was more an issue with ministro than with Poot itself. Using LG libraries would certainly explain it.

From that output, it looks like poot will work to root this phone. This poot.apk is a bloated noob-friendly wrapper around a nerdy commandline program. If you are comfortable around adb as far as running commands, pushing files, pulling them back off, and uploading stuff to some free filehosting place, I think I can help you help me get this phone rooted. It will require pushing some programs to the phone, running them from the command line, sending me the files they produce, rebooting the phone, cussing a bit, and hopefully you being the first person to have this phone with root.
I'm on irc on efnet server in #ventureroot for the next couple hours if anybody is up to it.

It probably won't work if you have ministro moved to your SD card. The libraries it downloads need to be on your phone so the poot.apk will be able to load them. It should actually work 1 time for you, but fail at the end saying something like "[-]haxx has run its coarse, reboot your phone...". I have code in place specifically for the Optimus Elite to allow the exploit to work repeatedly. Even without that code, poot should be able to root your phone and write the su binary correctly. Once that is done, you should be able to go to the app store and grap superSU and rootchecker.

I've tried to run Poot on the Alcatel OT-910, which is quite similar to the Venture.
Unfortunately, I am running into the same fatal error mentioned by divinebovine. Both Poot and Ministro are installed on the phone, not on the SD card. Any ideas?

The fatal error was caused by poot being built for arm7a cpu and the Venture having an arm5. The version of poot at the sendspace link I provided is built for the arm5 cpu. It turns out that you can run poot perfectly fine even with both apks installed on your sd card.
At any rate, look at post #27 and #29 above. If it turns out that poot has a chance of working on your device, send me a person that is comfortable with the stuff described in post #29 and I'll see if I can make it work. divinebovine was/is very comfortable with the adb mumbojumbo we needed to do and it still took a couple hours.

The arm5 poot binary runs on the OT-910. Running it, I get:

From that output, it looks like we can definitely make poot work on that phone. PM me when you have somebody that can handle the stuff described in post #29 and we can arrange to meet up on irc and see if we can hit that phone with the poot-hammer.

thank's to the great work of giantpune, my Alcatel OT-910 has been successfully rooted (see the attached screenshot)!
For instructions, cf. http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/612914-optimus-elite-root-apk.html. Put in a nutshell, you have to install the following two APK's:
1. the Poot-debug.apk tailor-made for this phone, and
2. Ministro II.apk.
Both files are linked at the end of giantpune's original post at the Optimus Elite forum.
Note that Superuser, but not SuperSU, will grant root access on the OT-910.
