Root Samsung galaxy s rooted and unlock question

I have a SGS rooted on 2.1 firmware so i could unlock it using the galaxy s tool from the android market.

I would like to know can i now update to the latest firmware using samsung kies and still have my phone unlocked?

Sure you can that.
Using an other firmware dont touch the part in the phone that handles the unlock etc..
