Root SBF Flash Problem

Should my phone be in recovery or bootloader when I connect to install the drivers

In recovery there is no way for me to pick a driver, in bootloader those drivers don't work either

I am not sure it couldn't hurt, are you currently running 2.1 or 2.2

2.2, I deleted a system file I shouldn't have and went into a boot loop

so when your X is plugged in, and in recovery it doesn't see it. When it is in bootloader it sees i but the drivers don' work, if so does rsd see it. And yes if you use your wifes X to install them that might work

RSD saw it but it would not flash

I have been running into the same problem, RSD sees it and everything but wont let me flash, have yet to figure out a solution.

oh thats totally different, try booting into recovery and wiping data and cache first then do it

My 2.2 is running fine, just no root, if i try booting into recovery and wiping data, and i still cant get RSD to work right, am I then SOL? should i just sacrifice root access for now? or just go for it?

Tried that first, didn't work. Then I tried updating the driver and everything went to hell. Wife just got home so I'll see if I can use her X to get a driver working

i had to uninstall the drivers by going to the control panel, and uninstalling the motorola drivers in the program section.
then, i installed the correct drivers for my OS. i also had start greyed out, and renaming the sbf to dx.sbf made it work. i dont know why i needed to shorten the name, but it did the trick.

Alright well I got 1 step further, I got it to start, but it immediatly fails saying

Failed Flashing process: phone connected

ideas?

make sureyour phone is in bootloader and you have rsd lite 4.7 with the patch here is a link if you want to try it,

done and done, I already had that

well if you have that and that and your phone is wiped...
try taking the sbf file putting it on your desktop and renaming it to dx.sbf then point rsd lite at it

Already tried that too, nothing

Now it seems to be working, hopefully it finishes

if you cant find anything that works, make a ubuntu bootable flash drive (instructions can be pretty easily found on google, but if you need help, i can help with that). restart your computer, and boot into linux using the flash drive, and follow these instructions (via rootzwiki)

1. Unzip the SBF and place VRZ_MB810_1.13.6.2_1FF_01.sbf and sbf_flash in the downloads folder​

2. Put the Droid X in bootloader and connect it via usb.​

3. Open a terminal window.​

4.Change your directory: CD Downloads​

5. Then type: ./sbf_flash VRZ_MB810_1.13.6.2_1FF_01.sbf​

6. Wait and finish!

Just read this post and it started working.

Computer engineer here. Registered so I could post this and hopefully help a few of you guys out

I was running into the same problem, with Win7 x64, RSD Lite 4.6, latest drivers. Did some investigation into the error log and looks like I found a bug in their programming. Go into the directory you installed RSD Lite (for Win7 x64 the default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\RSD Lite\) and look for a file that starts with "FlashErrorLog". Open it, and if you see something like this:

Line: 865
ERROR: \\?\c:\SPRecovery_ESE81.sbfwt

Got farther than before, now I get an error:

Failed Flashing: Interface BP: Error sending RAM download for bootloader

Well it worked, now im stuck in an infinite droid eye loop...love it...

Phew, finally done. After the droid eye loop, i booted in recovery and wiped data and cache again, and TADA! Fresh droid, just like outta the box.

Been a fun night though... now to root and put 2.2 back on... hopefully correctly this time.
