stopping a pdf download

How can I stop a pdf file that keeps trying to download? I've re-booted and pulled the battery, but the file keeps trying to (unsuccessfully) to download. Thanks

Delete the email that has the PDF attached? Uninstall the email app (if it's third party)?

A persistent download can be halted by going into the application manager of the app, the browser or email that discovered the file, and clearing cache and data then restarting the device.

The app, the browser or email will have to be reconfigured, so saving bookmarks, contacts etc, could make that easier.
