Tablet will not mount camera via USB

While on holiday I bought a generic Android 4.0.4 tablet. One thing I want to do is backup the photos from my camera (Fujifilm Finepix F70 EXR) to a USB flash drive via the tablet.

However, while the tablet mounts the flash drive so I can copy files to/from it, it will not mount the camera even though the camera itself recognises that the tablet has been connected.

Is there some way to make this work?

I've seen suggestions to buy an Eye-fi or an SD (camera) to micro-SD (tablet) adapter but that's a bit difficult on the road. Anyway it seems to me that it should just work as is?

Hi :hello: welcome to the forums on settings under storage there should be a munu button (three dots) in the upper right hand corner. tap on on computer connection and select Camera (ptp) you should be able to connect your device as a camera now

Thanks for the reply but that made no difference: the tablet still does not recognise the existence of the camera storage via the USB...

what os are you using? i know that it wont see mtp (not sure of ptp) unless you have windows media player 11... could be your problem?

The tablet is running Android 4.0.4. Why would I need WMP11 just to copy the photos off my camera to the tablet?

i think i mis understood you. you want to backup the pics on your camera to your computer? and not backup your pics from your tablet?

That's right: copy pics from actual camera to tablet.
