Help texting question

Ok... a few times I find myself texting away at a LONG message and then BOOM i must have hit something to set off a copy/cut/paste type function and ALL my text disappears! I have no idea what i pressed, or how i activated, so I sure didnt know how to get out of it.. Does anyone here know how i can AVOID this from happening again. This can get frustrating. i must type too fast for my own good. It would also be nice to know how I got into that function, so i can use it in the future when i actually need it. Anyone else have this problem before? I am a newbie to Android, so mind my beginner level question. I do have to say besides this, I LOVE the Pro!

Is that happening with every long text, or just intermittently?

Some texting issues wash out by rebooting the device. Some respond to clearing cache and data in the application manager for that app.

Others leave the stock app and go to Chomp or Handcent.
