Video playback on evo

What is the best format to playback video through the HDMI onto the tv? It claims you can stream it in 720p to the tv, but I can't get any better than 480p. I'm using the old iphone 3gs format. mp4 480x320. any help would be appreciated!

you need to encode the video at 1280x720 resolution, with an h264 codec in an mp4 container.
