OTA update while rooted will brick your phone. I wouldn't even bother using anything past v6 anyway. V5 even is fine. None of the updates past the V5 really add anything for the user, rather background services for the carrier's own benefit from what i can understand. What does V8 add, anyway?

Using mine atm. LG Tribute should be in my hands soon. Decided to change phones after my F3 crashed and burned as this one has some great features, like HD voice calling, better stock UI and Sprint Spark compatibility. If I like it, might get another one for rooting if it goes on sale over the holidaze. :^) Currently goes for $60-$80.

The Optimus V was truly one of a kind.

My youngest son, now thirty one, runs my husbands old OV. I'm glad we hung on to that as the family "spare"! Great phone! I think I read somewhere, it was THE most popular cheap android phone two years in a row. Probably the most "hackable" one too! It was my first android experience! Loved it!
