So, I downgraded to stock recovery to get the OTA2.2, I had problems doing so, but finally was able to get it to be stock recovery with s-off and running HBOOT .79, would I need .77 to get the OTA or no?
I can't remember, but I think I was on HBOOT .79 before I rooted in the first place so I think you would be fine. So, I downgraded to stock recovery to get the OTA2.2, I had problems doing so, but finally was able to get it to be stock recovery with s-off and running HBOOT .79, would I need .77 to get the OTA or no?
Thanks for the 2nd grade subtraction math lesson.
As much as I'm sure you're kidding, and as much as it pains me to waste anymore space or time on this, I still feel the need to comment.
As humorous as you may find your lesson, I find it immature.
The point of these forums is to gain information... not clutter up threads with nonsense. All this does is make it harder for people to find "informative" posts inside threads, which in turns makes people open new threads that never should of been there, making it harder on the mods, by having to monitor more than needed. In a whole it just brings androidforums down as a community by making us look as I said, immature.
I totally understand where you're coming from, but at the same time a post to make people smile now and then never hurts anyone. By the time you got back to this thread the answer had already been posted. Read my post, roll your eyes and smile just a little, and continue reading. If I had written a three-page long post contributing nothing then I would agree. However a 3-character blip is hardly anything to get bothered by. Immature? Sure, but we can't take ourselves so seriously sometimes; after all, it's FRIDAY, man!!!
(Plus I have been getting really frustrated visiting the forums lately and seeing all the immature, redundant and repetitive posts/threads too, so figured I'd lighten the scene a little bit)
Sort of on the topic of what you were doing, for some unknown reason, I decided that the best thing to do would be to flash .76 hboot with software 1.13.605.0, hoping that that update servers would be like wtf he doesnt even have ota #1 (from may). Then they would push the latest, cause well that would make sense. So far the phone is fine on old version, but even still, no updates for me - not even that ota#1...
Actually - does anyone know if the update servers keep track that they pushed an update to your device? If so, the roll back to tease out an update loses even more merit.
I am NOT rooted but did manually install--via update.zip--the leaked OTA update back in July (not froyo leak but the one providing 720p video, wifi hotspot, etc.). My hboot version is.77 and radio is 2.05.
Do Need to some how downgrade, or revert back to a previous hboot or anything before I install the official Froyo OTA? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I'm not sure if I read that right, but I think you want to get the OTA?, if so, since you are not rooted, im not sure, but either way you need to get back to the stock recovery, and maybe even the stock radio, I would s-off so if you want to root you can, plus it's as easy as putting it back to s-on. but you would need to root first, run s-off, by unrevoked forever, then run the PB31IMG.zip to get back to stock.
that's were I'm at now, S-OFF, with .79 HBOOT, I don't think it matters whether it is .77, or .79, but if you do the PB31IMG.zip from the most recent 2.1 update from the RUU it will update your hboot to .79. if you need more assistance trying to figure all that out, (seems overwhelming, but you'll get it) just ask.
The whole brick from radio thing has gotten blown WAY outta proportion. you wont brick. from what ive heard its from flashing 2.15x radio over 2.15x radio, so you OTA wouldnt be flashing even if u had 2.15X radio but u have 2.05x so either way you are good.
and im not familiar with the whole leak thing, but if u boot into hboot, power off phone, then turn back on by holding vol. down and power till screen turns on and ull see ur hboot and all that, then vol down to get to recovery, and if its a red triangle, ur on stock recovery.
