WHY does the screen not extend all the way to the bottom of the phone??? or WHY did they make the bottom of the phone extend past the screen?? It just looks dumb. It actually amazes me how engineers designed this and thought "Yes, this is a good idea" or "Yes this looks good"...too funny IMO.

Not sure what the developers' reasoning was, but I like the tab at the bottom of the phone. It makes it easier for me to hold by preventing me hitting the haptic buttons accidentally with my idle finger that's supporting the phone.

The one I REALLY don't get is why they left two empty keys on the keyboard when the spacebar is so small.

I agree I like how it doesn't extend all the way because like you said you don't hit the haptic buttons. I do wish they left out the d-pad and made that keyboard bigger though.

swap dpad for trackball, move it from right to left side, extend keyboard
    would be quite nice.

  6. must be a lefty huh?

Im fine with the d pad, but my fingers keep searching for an "enter" button while typing. When im sending a text after im done i keep searching and then just end up hitting "submit" on the screen

Supposedly the bottom was left uncovered so that it didn't interfear with the "radios".

I have noticed this is the only place I can hold the Droid in landscape mode with out pressing a soft button, or covering the light sensor. Could they of actually thought about this?

Heh, not necessarily. I'm a lefty but I think I don't think I'd want the trackball/d-pad on the left.

  10. lol see a lefty! If it had a d pad, trackball, scroll wheel, whatever id definitely want it on my dominate hand. which would be my right hand.

it extends farther because they put all the antennas there (radio, wifi, gps, bluetooth..) where there is supposedly less interference.

personally, i really like the way this phone looks in every way.

  12. you'll also notice this area your speaking of is also one of the few areas of the body of the phone which ISNT made out of metal. its plastic so it doesnt interfer with the radio receptions

Actually, I said that as a lefty I'd rather have it on my RIGHT hand. ;)

Who knows why. I guess because I'm used to so many things that accommodate righties for the most part. :p

  14. haha yea man i definitely saw what you wrote and yes most things are geared towards righty's.

    its because were awesome.

Actually I want it on the left side because that's where Dpads / Joysticks / etc go on gaming devices. Would make gaming much smoother :)

My biggest design wtf is that:i f only the keyboard slid up a little further and the d-pad was a trackball (ie smaller), you could have fit a much larger keyboard in the same space.

  19. yes it is, but since using other phones im used to a little bigger button that stands out a little more. idk if its just me but i feel like the enter key is hiding. hell, i havnt even had the need to touch the d pad lol

I despise track balls. and Actually like the design of the keyboard and dpad, and everything else. The DPAD is great for text editing doing copy and paste and what not.

Personally, I think it would have been perfect if they used that "chin" to put a trackball on this thing. That way, you could have the d-pad (in the keyboard area for the nitty-gritty) AND the trackball (for regular use)!

honestly the phone is ugly...but i guess its a design that'll grow on you. it would've been nice if they extended the whole screen down thus making the screen even bigger and having the ability to expand the keyboard...
