I have recently gained access to this phone and am feverishly working to add a FAQ and info on tweaking the phone. So far I'm rooted and cleaned so that will go up first.
Lets see how this puppy does.

Welcome to the forums!Awesome! I've lurked these forums for a while and have seen you do a lot of good work with the Ascend! I just got an M835 myself (local store was out of the Ascend) and am looking forward to tweaking it.
I know you're FAQ will be comprehensive and I'm not trying to rush, but I do have a question for you, though. You said you rooted and cleaned? By cleaned, you meant removing the MetroPCS bloatware? If so, what is safe to remove?
Mine is already rooted with SuperOneClick and all seems OK, so far.
New to this.... I just picked up an M835. I was wondering if this phone had the capabilities of personalized ringers and assigned ringers to callers. Love that feature, but can't seem to find it on this phone>
ok I was able to root using gingerbread 2.2. I have super user. how in the world can I get rid of easy metro wifi? I have advanced task killer... and as of yet there are no roms to flash this to gb? I know I started on the budget android phone. I read the above but I must be using wrong process viewer as it won't let me delete the cust/apps - you can change boot animation and sound from the metro pcs one?
Actually, for Recovery, I used Ultrajack and it's fine, I just had to use the U8150 version for it to run now, now all I'm trying to do is to remove the boot logo (before bootanimation) and replace with the one I want
Yes I have done both and both worked successfullyHave you done a backup and restore test?
You are looking to change the splash screen... im working on that too but its more complicated than the animation, different kind of file.
There are a few for the U8150 (Which I heard from XDA that the M835 and U8150 are basically the same phone) There is a CM7 for the U8150 out there by the Ideos Dev Team (google for that) and there's Fusionideos on which I'm about to try later myself, keep in mind with Fusionideos, you have to install the browser, market and e-mail client yourself, also, I'd STRONGLY recommend that you install a recovery solution (I use Ultrajack) and make a nand backup before performing any CM or FI install so that way of you mess something up, you can always go into recovery and restore with said backupHey, I am new to this android type of phones, and my friend showed me all these things he can do with his HTC Evo by rooting. Rooting is as far as I got, I am wondering is there any Custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod7, 6,or any other kinds work on the Huawei M835? Thanks.

I chuckle when I see these... sorry
Did you backup your phone first?
If so restore the backup and wait for someone with the m835 as a toy/Modding phone to test stuff first.
Didn't backup? Maybe someone else did and you may be able to use theirs... assuming they don't mind giving you their Google account for a few minutes or thought ahead and backed up their phone after a factory reset.
Otherwise you need to find a stick recovery or working rom
while powering on, hold the power button + volume up + green button until you see the Ultrajack menuYes I did a backup, what now do I do? How do I enter recovery mode from the boot? It goes Hauwei > Ideos > Android logo ( metro pcs sound) then resets to Android logo.
Well, I prefer Ultrajack over CWM's Recovery Mode because of nandroid over CWM's Backup Method, less corrupted backups with UJ then with CWMI tried the ideos cwm. It doesn't work. But if you can convince me I may try your suggestion and make a stock rooted recovery for mat

EDIT: Tested FusionIdeos, leaves the metropcs APN empty and your forced to input the data yourself
As in a whole system or just the boot part of the image?I would try it but I don't own the phone, its a good friends. Can you do mat a favor and make him a freshboot recovery? Uploading to media fire should work.
