Root ZTE Warp Sync - All Things Root Guide

The kernel source for our phone is here http://opensource.ztedevice.com/ think this will help any? A lot of files in there. But not sure what we can use
Thinking about it now, this might not help at all.
I already built the kernel and guessed on the ramdisk to create the boot.img we talked about earlier.

I believe I tried this last night. It is supposed to boot a temporary recovery. It booted to a low battery icon screen even though I didn't have a low battery. I have confidence that with a little tweaking this might work. We need a third party recovery to install unsigned zips..
How do we do that?

What a shame , still got my Sequent and the Sync would've been a great upgrade it's like its big brother , i'm starting to think this phone can never be rooted just don't understand why they'd do that weather it was ZTE or Boost Mobile is just not what android is all about , this just sucks !

This is how they say the Unlocked the boot loader on the zmax.

I actually downloaded those files a while back but got scared cuz it was gonna push a boot.img & recovery for a different phone. Can someone say "Brick?!" Lmfao. Tbh - I'm not pushing ANYTHING unless Someone of SuperR's knowledge of ZTE sets checks into / rips everything apart & is close to certain it's relatively safe: excluding operator error, of course!

I am keeping up with the thread on xda about the ZTE zmax. I know it is a different phone but they have the same problem of not getting into boot loader. I think the solution might be the same. Bad thing was a developer named jcase had said he had root a while back but was feeling disrespected so left the thread.

yep that's the problem with XDA some members don't know how to appreciate or treat the (Old/New)developers

I found this doing some searching. Not sure for it'll help any but perhaps it's a step in the right direction. It's just a matter of time before this boot image issue resolved. Good luck guys. Keep up the extensive efforts. It's gonna pay off.

I found this before, and it does look interesting. Unfortunately it is a windows exe so I can't see what it does. I also don't have one of these devices to test it on so some brave soul would need to do it. It can't hurt to open the app in windows and see what it is. Guess I should rephrase...it won't hurt your Android device to open the app lol. If it has a button that says "enable fastboot" it might be worth a try. If we had fastboot access we could start playing.

The Open C Upgrade Tool only has a Browse button to load the file and an Upgrade Status also a checkbox that says Erase CEFS.
What I find interesting is the line
3. The "eng" version has root access.
4. The "eng" version offers fastboot feature, allowing developers to flash "img" into it.
Anyway, the guys on XDA in the ZTE Zmax forum have been working on an exploit.
OK my friend, this is the exploit source from the gethub, and Chainfire's SuperSu.zip files. Both files are zipped together, and the hope is that this exploit could be coded to place the included SuperSu.zip's file content to the same path that Chainfire's zip intends them to be placed. Also I believe the file permissions need to be set the same as his script sets them. I appreciate you taking time to do this even if you're unable to get this working. It means a lot.

I think someone just needs to build the APK to test this exploit.

Oh ...and this is the link to the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/zte-zmax-z970-guide-faq-discussion-t3053066/page95

Is this a reference to making a zip flash able in ZTE stock recovery?
