Update: just read Asurion's email:

The good news: My claim has already been processed and I should receive my replacement in 1 to 2 days, I don't think I need to port my number to my old phone and just 'survive' without a mobile device until Tuesday.

The bad news: I was charged $200 deductible. Suddenly paying for a premium case doesn't seem so expensive. :(

Well it's working out, you knew you were gonna have to pay something, right? Yeah another new phone you can setup again isn't that great! :)

So not right but in my defense I was adopted over at macrumors. Now I'm suffering the price and my remedy will be delivered tomorrow. And those summer punishments weren't that bad considering I had a tv, computer, game systems, and stereo in my room. It was torture not being able to go anywhere w my siblings and friends.

Wow that sounds terrible! I dropped mine for the first time ever last night and it was a hard drop to the street and it actually kept flipping around till it finally stopped and landed under my car. I was so extremely lucky that there wasn't even a scratch to the phone case! And its just a simple cheap body glove case. Kinda like this one:

Amazon.com: [SF Matte Black] Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Ringke SLIM Soft Feeling Premium Hard Case AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and Unlocked - Eco Package: Cell Phones & Accessories

Again I feel for you! Hope you can get it fixed!

These new phones from Samsung are really fragile. As of today I have now broken both my Galaxy S3 and Note 2 screens.

S3 was last month. I had it on my lap getting out of the car. Short fall and bam, broken screen. I didn't have any insurance so that cost me 180$ for a Samsung repair.

This morning I had my brand new Note 2 in my shirt pocket and I bent over to pick up a pen and it slid out and bam. Again only a short fall. Thankfully I have a best buy warranty on this one.

Now I fully accept I did not have either phone in a case. My fault (both phones are so big I was trying to avoid using a case to make them bigger). But both falls were really short. I've dropped my Razr before in a similar situation and never had it break. The problem is with the glass being so close to the edge on the galaxy phones.

So the lesson is either get a case or a good warranty.

I have to agree. Ireally though I would've just scratched the glass. The sound when it dropped is nothing compared to my HTC Evo. My Evo survived nastier falls. I think the glass of the GN2 is a lot easier to break primarily because of three reasons. 1) The edge of the glass is so close to the edge of the phone. 2) The glass itself looks thinner compared to HTC Evo. 3) The screen is large. Like anything longer, would take less effort to break. Because of the leverage like effect.

I think a good case is a must for the GN2. Take note a good case doesn't necessarily mean an expensive one. :)
