Accessories EVO Screen Protectors Thread

Just got my Clarivue in the mail. I really LOVE these protectors (I've had them on many different devices) but they always seem under-sized and as far as I can tell their Evo protectors are definitely smaller than expected.

It seems to be an 1/8 of an inch smaller all around. Now I understand the front of the phone is inset to the sides, but judging from pictures and video I'd estimate that to be a 1/16, possibly leaving another 1/16 of an inch exposed.

My hope is that a case will wrap around enough to cover the portion the Clarivue doesn't.

which one doesn't give fingerprints? I want one that is anti fingerprints and protects my screen!

Clarivue does a pretty darn good job of that. Even with the Ultra-Clear. I found a simple wipe every once in a while is all that's needed.

Going to hold out for the Boxwave myself. I used these on my old Treo phones and they are still good as new after years of abuse. Will use a cheapie one in the meantime.

thanks. i've used someone's iphone before that had a matte protector which felt a little sandy to touch. that thing does not give me any kind of fingerprint @ all adter using it. i loved it, but did't know the brand

I'm going to go with Stealth Guard for now (you get two full body protectors for $9.99) and then get Steinheil Crystal protectors whenever they are released.

Maybe someone can help me out here. When I posted a coupon code over at precentral that I got for Zagg.com, I caught a lot of flak for it. Apparently "zagg sucks" while everything else is just light years better. Sarcasm aside, I'm definitely willing to try another brand with my new Evo, but I have a couple questions.

The Zagg invisible shields I've used in the past have held up pretty well, but not forever, which makes me want to be sure whatever I get has that lifetime warranty. I replaced my iPhone one probably 3 or 4 times.

The invisible shield adds a "grippiness" to the phone it's on which I like. It makes me feel like it's less likely to fly out of my hands. I also didn't have to worry about it sliding around as much on surfaces such as my dashboard, etc. (not that I make a practice out of putting my high end smartphones loosely on my dashboard). I used a friends iPhone which he had covered with Stealth Armor and it didn't have this grippiness. So I want something with grip.

What would you guys recommend with the aforementioned requirements of the screen/body protectors?

I don't mind Zagg. I've used it in the past. I'm not terribly fond of the "orange peel" look, and the screen can feel a bit rubbery. But honestly, I can't reccomend anything else, as its all I've ever used.

I'm going to be trying Stealth Guard this time around with my EVO as I've heard some good things about it.

Personally I'm waiting for SGP to release their Steinheil Crystal Clear film for the Evo. I ordered 2 sheets for the Droid a month ago, and I was very satisfied with it. It's feel is much closer to pure glass, unlike InvisibleShield.

I am waiting for this as well. But for the time being I'm going with Stealth Guards. I emailed SGP to see when they may be getting a screen protector for the EVO and am waiting for a response.

Did you get the anti-glare or the crystal clear for your Droid?

I think you meant anti-FINGERPRINT or crystal clear. I got the Crystal clear. It was indeed crystal clear.

A friend got the anti-fingerprint for his iPhone, and it blew me away. It made the screen have a matte feel and the screen didn't stick to your fingers if they were humid. But because it is anti-fingerprint, it slightly blurs the screen. I don't want that so I'm definitely getting the Crystal Clear for my Evo.

I've only ever used Zagg before, and they do the job. However, this time around I am trying Stealth Guard until Steinheil comes out. You can get TWO full body Stealth Guards for only $9.99.

Are there any skin protectors that do not rely on the method of dipping or spraying the material into water with a bit of liquid soap?

I had to do that with a BetterSkins protector and I absolutely hated it.

I've used BSE on my BB Curve for the last 2 yrs. and have had NO problems with them I have put them on numerous other phones as well and all went well.

That being said they do have orange peel to a small extent and they tend to still show fingerprints. So I am looking into other options for my new EVO when I get it.

I would imagine that anything that is supposed to cover the back/sides of the phone would require some type of adhesive.
