excellent. So I never really even have to go to the sprint store here to become a customer? (im on att currently)

I believe that's correct. You can do everything without going to the store...but I believe the part that may take longer is filling out all the information for your contract. If you don't mind giving all that information over the phone/online then you should be ok. I only go to the stores to browse around and ask a few questions if possible...but it's usually a hassle when the sales reps know less than us here :)

Concerning the rumored HDMI output on the phone. There was some talk about what exactly this could be used for and it practical it really is. It got me thinking. I currently find myself hooking my computer into my big screen tv for the purpose of watching content from NBC or ABC online through my tv. This is typically a pain in the butt because it requires me to unhook a bunch of connections and connect them straight into my tv. Question is if this has a hdmi output, could i stream episodes from abc.com or nbc.com straight from my SS to my TV just by connecting them via hdmi? If that is in fact possible you have no idea how useful that feature would be for me.

Awesome. Unfortunately im in a "limited coverage" area for sprint. There is just one sprint store here, and its part of a radioshack haha. I have a friend with sprint and he gets service just fine though, so I have no problem with signing up. I just strongly doubt a radioshack sprint will stock the SS

I think my account is bugged on the sprint website, even after just purchasing a new phone if I go through the upgrade/checkout process on their site it always gives me the new contract price :D This started occurring a few years ago when the royally messed up my billing. Needless to say, I'll be ordering through their site, lol. Does anyone else have this "issue"?

I've been lurking on this thread for quite awhile and have been actively keeping up with the SS. I use to be with Sprint a few years ago and left to go to Verizon because of the bad customer service at that time. I have now read the customer service has changed alot and with the arrival of the Supersonic I will be proud to be back on Sprint again! I think with Sprints rates & good coverage it sends a bad message to see companies that rape you in terms of price ahead of them.

I've found CS to be decent but not amazing. Maybe it's because I only call when I have a problem and they can't always do what I want them to. Either way the few times I have to call them are still not enough to make me go elsewhere and pay another $50/month for the same plan.

I was just reading this article from phonearena (I love this site):

What to expect at CTIA WIRELESS 2010? (Phone Arena News)

And noticed this little snippet after mentioning the SS:

"A little bird told us we would see at least one WiMAX capable device for Sprint at the exhibition, although no further details about it were provided."

At least one? Could there be another WiMAX phone? Enlighten me please if any of you heard of another WiMAX capable phone rumored to be revealed. Thanks

There have been some very thin rumors of a new Palm phone with Wimax this summer but I dunno if that is wishful thinking. With the beating their stock has taken you think they would leak info on something like that just to keep people interested. I would bet on t his one being false.

We seem to be wondering off-topic a little. The questions about Sprint's customer service, plans, etc. should be posted in the Sprint forum and not in the Supersonic thread. I would much rather talk about the phone and not the service. Wouldn't you?

Agree. I guess the issue is that folks coming to the thread and reading about the phone immediately think of whether they want to switch carriers for this phone. Either way I won't get too far past my one comment about the CS. If it turns into a discussion of that then the thread will have to be moved back on topic.

I guess it's what happens when we are all following this thread in anticipation and having to wait for tomorrow or Wednesday or whatever to get the info.

I wonder if they will show this at the HTC show tomorrow, then give details on price and release date at Hesse's on Wednesday. Alternately, maybe they will launch the phone tomorrow and then just go over the benefits of Wimax and Sprint at Hesse's presentation.

Either way I am ready for nerd Christmas tomorrow. As they say on the Palm forums, we are getting ready to enter "silly season" here ;)

now THAT would be cool. Having just the portability of the phone and an HDMI cable would be great if you could stream video sites to anyones TV. Let's hope this is one of the features of the phone and that they reveal the different things you can output via the HDMI port.

Schedule of Events

At www.ctiawireless.com they're showing the times of the keynote sessions. Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint/Nextel and William Morrow, CEO of Clearwire Corporation are both supposed to speak on Wednesday, March 24, 9:00 - 11:00 AM.

There's a lot of buzz about WiMAX 4G this year and now with the expected unveiling of the Supersonic, I expect that Sprint, Clearwire and HTC will dominate the tradeshow as mentioned in post 234.

Wouldn't it be great to see Sprint, HTC and the Supersonic walk away with this year's CTIA Tech Award!

My, you've been busy Cary :)

I noticed this sign on the fist page when I went to sprintusers.com

Big news coming tomorrow from Sprint

Quite a few people have noticed when they logged into their accounts this morning that there is a nice little banner that says, “Sprint Premier Customers: Visit us tomorrow for an exciting announcement about a groundbreaking new device”

Could this be the new HTC Supersonic 4G device that’s been rumored to make an appearance this week at CTIA?

We will have full coverage of CTIA this week including Dan Hesse’s keynote speech on Wednesday, March 24 at 9am PDT, Noon EDT.

That is exactly what I am referring to. I wonder why they are saying that when the HTC and Sprint presentation is not until Wednesday. You think they would wait until then but maybe there is some kind of press release or something ahead of that keynote that really lays it all out.
Well, we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out anything, but any kind of formal announcement would be great! Notice the post above with the link to www.sprintusers.com.

I've been looking at the posts at www.community.sprint.com and someone there posted a conversation with a Sprint specialist and they confirmed that the Supersonic was going to launch very soon.

Now I'm really curious to see what tomorrow's announcement is going to be. I don't know about the rest of you, but it looks like I won't be getting much sleep tonight...

On the home page, if you want to call it that, I posted the link to the live webcast at CTIA and the schedule for Dan Hesse's address which is noon Eastern on Wednesday.
