I'm a grandfathered unlimited customer. I tripped on something surfing the web that was three weeks old claiming this.
I just got off the phone with Verizon and found it is very much true!
I went ahead and had the feature put on, 30 dollars a month at this time will get you unlimited data! To share up to 8 devices/computers!
I figured, why not, if I don't care for it I'll drop it off of my plan with little to lose. But if I do like it, it's possible to be grandfathered into the unlimited hotspot.
But I got ponder and ask why would Verizon do such a thing? If they're so terribly worried about a spectrum crunch and data hogs.
Personally, as much data as I go through I cannot justify using an app to get it for free. Yes, I feel a guilty... Now that I'm thinking, I have many uses for the hotspot feature since this phone is my only connection to the internet, I can justify an extra 30 bucks a month.
