I'm on 3 and did mine yesterday with very few probs at all.

I would just make sure of your APN settings (mine wasnt deleted but needed reenabling)
Make sure you have at least 25MB internal space.
Make sure you haven't disabled the auto backup.
If you are using LED Light 1.0.9 remove it as its incompatible with the Camera in 2.2
If you use swype it might be worth removing as I had to reinstall after 2.2

My T-Mobile APN settings survived the update. I had a problem with Swype, re-installed but the default keyboard stayed there, but a long press on an edit box came up with keyboard choice options and after selecting Swype it's back to normal.

Is anyone else having problems with sms? In the main sms menu some numbers, and photos are incorrect. For example I send a message to "Adam" but in the main menu its shows "David's" name and picture. When you go into the message it shows the correct name and picture. It's only with the stock sms app.Handtec (I'm sure I'm missspelling it ) sms is showing the correct name and picture.

Spoke to Orange 4 times today and nobody I spoke to had the foggiest idea what I was on about. I know that mis communication is normally the fault of the communicator however, how hard can it be
"Hi I wondered if you could help me"?
"Sure. Before we start can I take you through security?"
Blah, Blah, Blah
"Great, how can I help?"
"I have an HTC Desire"
"Yes, good phones them"
"Yes, but I'm wondering when Orange will be releasing the 2.2 version of the Android OS?"
"Errrrm, you want to know when you can upgrade? "
"Yes, but not my handset?"
"Let me go and find out" 5 mins rubbish music
"Hello?"
"Hi"
"Thanks for waiting. You are not eligible for an upgrade for another 16 months!"
"I know, but it's not the phone I want to upgrade it's the operating system. From 2.1 up to 2.2. I appreciate that you cannot know everything about all the handsets that you provide, and without sounding rude, but have you ANY idea what I'm going on about?"
"Yes.... you want to upgrade your handset don't you?"
"Yes, but not the hardware!"
"Oh, so is your phone broken?"

I gave up after getting to around that point. Previous conversations were a tad more to the point. i.e " If I said FROYO to you, would it mean anything?" or "I'm going to ask you about Android 2.2. Does that mean anything to you? "

Needless to say, I am non the wiser. I do note with interest that a few folk on here are touting that they have an Orange branded phone and they have been successful in recieving 2.2. Are they lucky, have I missed something or are they talking bollox? :D

Cheers :D

thats what i have done but its offering me an upgrade to version 1.21.405.2 only and that was the update that stopped my wifi working. No 2.2 yet for me.

I have this problem as well, so i download and install 1.21.405.2. reboot the phone, go to check updates and it just keeps offering me 1.21.405.2. Even though I've downloaded and installed it 3 times now

Have you got an unbranded handset. After i did this upgrade it gave me the option to upgrade to 2.2. Be wary though if you have debranded your handset yourself, and do 1.21.405.2 the wireless doesnt work. I think this also caused problems when i tried to do the 2.2 upgrade.

Yes my handset was unbranded from the factory

PS I am no longer getting offered the 1.21.405.2 update, but now it says "No updates available"

Do I have to enable the HD on the camera somehow or has it automatically changed during the update? there doesn't seem to be a way of telling, also how do I move my apps to the SD card, the option is greyed out on all but 2 apps, cheers

Edit, I've sussed the HD out

the dev of the market apps need to add it to the programs before we can move the apps to sd-card

I'm running Windows 7 64Bit as well and appears to work fine. Installed a driver automatically "HTC Remote NDIS based device" might have overwritten another driver as well as I think I saw 2 but perhaps not.

After the driver installed it automatically created "Network 2".

Hope this helps a bit.

It helps in the sense that I don't have to hunt for a third party driver. It seems Win7 should detect it automatically.. Now to figure out why it doesn't in my case. HTC Sync and Removable disk drive modes work fine as before, it's only the new tethering mode over USB that doesn't work.
