I canceled the Newegg.com order. I'd actually rather be "in the back of the line" than do business with them - that bait and switch thing they pulled on me felt like buying a used car. Thanks again for the tip, tapgamer, sounds like you saved me a bunch of headache.

Interestingly, one of the Best Buy stores near me is taking $50 deposits on the DX (and the HTC Evo, for whatever that's worth). The guy claimed that both phones would be here by the end of the week. Not sure how he can guarantee that, though, and at this point, I'm not sure I trust the retailers to tell me the truth.

I personally expect mine to ship in the middle of this week and arrive around this weekend or the beginning of next week. Even with those estimates, I think that's pretty darn good shipping. Verizon and/or Motorola are really starting to push these things out to customers a lot quicker now as far as I can tell. It seems they're working pretty hard to get them out to everyone. :)

The rep. at the store today told me the usual 24th/25th, waaay too long to wait, shipping ETA. I questioned about some units being shipped early and she got that smirk on her face like she knew what I was talking about. She said they themselves aren't allowed to guarantee quicker shipping, but that they really are just saying the later dates to make sure that they're delivered within the time they say. If the unit arrives earlier than the date, which is what they're expecting, then that's great and the customer feels they've received it extremely quick. If it happens to take as long as two weeks or so, then the customer can't go to them saying that they were told they would be receiving it earlier.

"Everybody wins," basically.

I just called at the rep said "Orders placed on 31,1,2, and 3 will be shipped by the 18th."

I ordered mine on the first, in store, and it seems that a lot of people who ordered theirs on the third are getting shipping confirmations. If it's not here Wednesday at the latest, I will be very disappointed. What's the point of going into the store if it only takes longer?

I ordered my X originally on the 29th but VZW somehow managed to cancel the order without my intervention- I re-ordered on Aug 3rd and so far the online shipping page still says:

Your order has been processed and will be shipped based on inventory availability and shipping method. You will receive shipment notification and tracking details via email.

A fellow friend said he received his X in the mail and two days later got the automated "your device has shipped" email. I'm hoping it arrives sooner than later- that 8.25 ship date can eat it.

Also, hi- my first post here on android forums. I was a big Android guy back when the G1 hit the market and had a dev phone. I helped out the Cyanogen movement when it was starting and was pretty active in the XDA community back in the day. My G1 took a trip out the window of a moving car one particular afternoon, and I ended up using a BB from work as a phone. The X will be my second Android and can't wait to see how far things have come.

Welcome to the forums. Looks like you had the same problem I did. VZW also cancelled my order and I reordered the same day you did. Mine is in the mail as we speak, so hopefully you'll get it early too, its only right!

Now this is my very first android phone, I've been with a blackberry curve for almost two years. But welcome none the less!

the "ship by" date that CS and the website has posted is bogus. if you don't get your phone within a week of ordering then you should do some calling. almost everyone i've talked to or read posts from on here as stated that they have received it within a week.

i'm a little miffed by this back to school sale.... VZW was sending me deal after deal for the incredible and my NE2 date THIS thursday and i can't even get them to move it up a week so that i can get my discount. and no email for me about some back to school sale.

I'd be calling them. It sounds like the supervisor, that asshole, may have cancelled your order like he did me and someone else.

I spit powerade on my monitor when I read this, not about the canceled orders but the part about the supervisor.

I just called again, probably not going to call and bugger them again. The CSR actually gave me my order # but that means nothing. No tracking number and I was told shipped by the 23rd and the keep periodically checking my email for the shipping notification.

Yeah I was told over the phone that they wouldn't bill me until they were going to ship but I haven't even received any email notification. From what I am reading though alot of people aren't even getting a shipping notification and the phones are being shipped. I sure hope it gets here early in the week. I can't wait for my new toy and I am ready to put the Storm 2 down and start my new life with the X, lol....:D
