Be honest - it's shite !

lol wow i leave for a few hours and i see that a lot of people who came in with some hateful thing about the Xperia :p

Well i would love to get it but now im unsure

I may just get a captivate :(
But i dont like the gps issue they have and I like the fact that the Xperia has an 8.1 megapixel camera with flash or photo light

What would you be really using your (maybe future) X10 for and what would be your fav stuff to do with a mobile? if you answer them ill happily give you advice to see if the X10 is a good choice for you.

i can't believe so many people don't mind using iTunes just to get the stinkin' iPhone...my dad and i both find it a pain in the ass, and I don't even use it all that often for my iPod Touch. But the sheer amount of load times and restrictions (compared to the speedy drag and drop) are enough to deter me from the iPhone...

I am not even bothering with the cable any more... enable bluetooth file transfer and you are there... not to good for huuuge file transfers, but whenever I have few songs or pics I want to move I use BT. Also can do simple file management on SD card via the PC... try doing this on iShite.

lol i think you are taking a WEE BIT to serious. I don't think anybody has me by my balls(i guess my metaphoric ones lol) because i dont even have an Xperia...i am a possible future owner

it isn't that it has to have problems but its kind of expected

And you do realize that just because you find no fault in those 3 laptops you have that is only through your eyes...

Owners of those 3 laptops might find faults that you don't deem important

It's a a subjective topic....

Hopefully, you will enjoy your iphone if you get one or even another android phone

Do. Not. Buy. One.

I hate mine and i'm gong back to iphones all the way. I appreciate what you said earlier about 1st gen anything but if thats the case then SE should never be allowed to release the first of anything they make, there hasn't been a decent SE phone since the K800, i had a Satio for two days!! SE should hang there head, everyone is trying their hardest to make an iphone killer but sadly it 'aint gonna happen'

BTW if that really is you in your avatar pic....you're a ten.

hey Gary, chances are that if you use the iPhone, you're either an Apple fanboy, or you like the iPhone for its apps/user friendly interface or the slick touch sensitivity. Whatever the reason may be, you're converted to the iPhone. And from what I see is, if you're committed to the iPhone, chances are, there's no turning back unless either:

a) you're finding the UI to be extremely boring and not innovative anymore
b) you don't like the restrictions for iTunes or whatever Apple related software without jailbreaking your device, hence voiding your warranty

What Android brings is the customization without needing to root (but of course rooting does make things better). Also, with the camera on the X10, it's like 2 good things in 1. Obviously Android OS 1.6 and Timescape's inability to be useful are a few drawbacks for the phone, but the iPhone isn't exactly perfect itself.

So basically all I'm trying to say is I can't stand people bashing the X10 because they came from an iPhone. You guys know what the iPhone brings, yet you made the decision to give the X10 a try. Which means you wanted CHANGE. Let others make the decision for themselves and if they're NOT coming from an iPhone, than maybe the X10 is an improvement from whichever phone they're coming from. For all the iPhone users, just stick to your iPhones.

1)Great Camera-I am a model(Aspiring) so i am big on taking pictures for Facebook & Myspace

2)Point two, Facebook and myspace are really important to me so i'd like a good phone to keep me connected and i have recently begun using twitter

3)Good call quality

4)Decent touch screen keyboard

5)Unique UI(I have had 4 different sense devices and they are kind of dated)...the UI on the Xperia is new, different and visually appealing even though it has an outdated OS

My android experiences are with
Droid 1, Droid Eris, Sprint Hero, Htc Evo, Htc Incredible and now a Droid X
and i am looking for something different

You certainly seem to be switching phones quite a bit. But from your points, let me give you my take on them.

1) Camera is definitely one of its strong points. I had an Omnia HD and while that was a great camera as well, once there were a few pictures on the memory card, it made the whole phone lag, not an issue here with the X10 though. Also, uploading pictures onto Facebook is extremely easy (not sure about MySpace because I don't use that).

2) Updating your status on Facebook and Twitter is simple with Timescape (as it can update both accounts from the same status), but if you're familiar with Android, then it should be no different from the other ones (again, not sure about MySpace). If you've used iPhone's Facebook app, then don't compare, because iPhone's version is much more complete than whatever Android has to offer at this point regarding that.

3) Sorry to tell you, but call quality is definitely not one of X10's strong points...well you can hear people VERY well if their phone has good call quality, but X10's mic is oddly positioned which makes your voice sound distant and hollow (as I've been told by several different people).

4) The SE stock QWERTY keyboard sucks crap, and the Android stock one is only slightly better. However, if you go online and install a 3rd party HTC keyboard or Swype, then texting becomes much better, so nothing to worry about here if you install 3rd party apps.

5) Definitely unique UI. The blue background, I think, gives the UI a nice, clean, and fresh look which not very many UI's can replicate right now. Timescape and Mediascape are more gimmick than practical, but they do separate the X10 from other Android phones. I actually find the Sense UI to be very attractive, so I'm not sure what you'll think of the X10...lol

Lengthy I know, but more info = better understanding ^___^ hope that helped!

Thanks ECBOMB :)

yeah i do switch phones quite a bit lolzzz
I did say my Droid X was going to be my phone for the end of the year but idkk lolzz

1)Well i am glad to hear the camera is really good :)
My question is this:When uploading pictures to facebook, is there a timescape app when you hit share?

I know on my Sense devices you can upload thru Facebook For Htc Sense and my X is just said Uploaded by Droid

Does the Xperia have it's on unique saying?

2)that's good that updating status is easy as well.

Again, when you date via timescape...does it say that as well...lol it's silly but i kind of like how it has that haha

3)Call quality....Ehhhh it's not a deal breaker unless they truly can't hear me

4)I live in America and it's now on At & t...I heard that you can't sideload applications so would i be able to still download the app for the keyboard?

5)Omg, yes i am in love with the blue :) It is beautiful and my favorite color and i especially love the look off it in the contacts. GORGEOUS UI!

Dont get me wrong, i'm gutted that i'm having issues with it because it does blow the iphone away on a few points, camera being the main one. I know what you're saying in that i might have been seduced by the iphone, i suppose to a certain degree i have, but i do get bored pretty quick with phones and like something new and shiny every now and again. I tried the X10 expecting it be great and it isn't (lets be honest) i could mention Timescape and all the other stuff but its been done before, no doubt i might try the gen 2 if there ever is one? or the Galaxy S is looking good, but this Market issue i've got i never had with iTunes.

I've tried at least five phones in the past 12 months, iphone 3g, 3gs, HTC HD2, X10 and HTC Wildfire, none i'm afraid match up to the 3gs, and i hate to think i'm being drawn in by the marketing but Apple still do have the edge IMHO.

The UI on the X10 is very easy to use i agree, but why is it such a drama to make a call? and before you say download an app to make it easier, should i have to?

I was in NY and NJ at the start of June, wish i'd have bumped into you ;)
Funnily enough its one of my favourite pics now too :)

I used to have nothing but SE phones but after the K800 they kind of went downhill, the Satio was a particular low point. I spent a long time slagging the iphone (mainly because T-Mobile didn't do it in the UK) so i never got the chance to try it, i bit the bullet and paid cash for one, got it jailbroken and loved it, i was hoping SE had got their act together with the X10 when i saw it and thought i'd go back, but i was wrong to do that.

Well its not a complete disaster of a phone as people are making out, hardware is ok and the OS will be updated soon. what really pisses me off is the price of the ****ing thing and the sound of the incall volume and the ringer volume to. I cant see how this was not addressed in the development of the phone, THE two most basic features of a phone and for some reason the boys & girls at SE decided that the product was good enough to release to the public despite it being difficult to use outside on the move! The amount of missed phone calls i get is unreal. Why i dont know as my previous Se phones were brilliant for sound. Its crazy, really is.

My previous point about releasing it before it was ready, SE see $ signs and send it out.

It's a SMART phone. It is meant for smart people. Not dumb arses.
It's only the dumb arses that have problems with it.

uh no, its the dumbasses at se that cant design a ****en phone that works. its the dumbasses that are too stupid to realize the phone is a piece of shit. its the smart people that know theyve bought a 600 dollar paper weight. and i bet it would fail at that too. anytime you buy a phone that needs to be upgraded by apps just to make it run properly youve got a problem. the factory keyboard is complete garbage. the htc keyboard is better but still crap. my brothers i phone keyboard feels light years ahead of this thing. i could re start my rant and add another 20 things about this phone that makes it crap.

again im hoping 2.1 resolves alot of these issues.

my old mike phone was great for sound. a ringer so loud it could be heard in a bar. and the speaker was fantastic on it. you put that kind of setup into this phone, give it a flash, and make it a little less laggy and a proper keyboard and you have a much better phone

The fact that I seem to spend ALL my time looking at this forum to solve problems with my X10, surely confirms what we are all thinking, it is shite !! - Everyday there seems to be a new problem, now its the gmail / googlemail, my apps are still taking an age to download despite changing from googlemail to gmail. My wife has an iphone, not a drop of trouble ! - Think I am going to throw this in the bin (literally) and hot foot it down to the iphone store

TBH mate I havent had any problem with my x10 so it must be you. The only thing that went wrong is when I tried updating and I lost all my stuff but that was down to my own doings.

Im still to find a fault apart from I have fat fingers and keep pressing the wrong character on the keyboard cause my GF types fine.
