Accessories Seido Surface

I received the surface combo yesterday. The case fits well and doesn't add much bulk in my opinion (I was using Verizon shell case until this one arrived, and the difference in bulk is not noticeable). I like the feel of this case, and I had one previously for my BB Tour.
The only complaint I might have is that the cased phone does not insert smoothly into the holster with the spring-loaded clip. That is to say, I have to raise the clip slightly with my finger in order to get the top of the phone to slide underneath the clip. This was not an issue with this same case with the BB Tour, as it was quite easy to holster into the clip smoothly with one hand without manipulating the clip. Perhaps after a few days of use this will become less of an issue.

This will be the first time I have used this type of holster but I like the idea that it does fit a little tight. I am a bit concerned that it would pop out if I inadvertantly bumped the spring clip.

Just received mine today and it is not, even with the insert taken out from the dock. :(

I already knew this because I emailed them two weeks ago and asked. Their very arrogant response was that "we don't support OTHER MANUFACTURER" accessories. My response was that this is not OTHER but THE manufacturer and a lot of droid x owners are buying the car dock.

Actually, the first time I emailed them was over a month ago and I didn't get a response. They one they finally responded to was 2 weeks ago.

I use my dock daily. All they had to do was acquire the verizon dock and make sure their skin fit correctly.

I was a long time Seidio customer but due to this oversight and and their response to it I am never buying their products again.

I went to Best Buy to check out the Rocketfish case. I have the OEM extended battery from Verizon installed (with the extended battery cover). I tried about 4 different cases and found one that fits well, albeit snug. Three out of the four were too tight. I really like the case - it's very thin and feels good in hand. I'd prefer the area where the hand strap holes are be covered but that's a personal nit. I had a Seidio Surface II for my Incredible and liked it a lot but (in my opinion) the Seidio case for the DX looks too thick and not enough room around the buttons. So if you go for the Rocketfish, make sure you try a few and find one that fits best. The package opens and re-seals easily and Best Buy didn't mind me trying them out. And by the way, the snaps on mine have not detached (but I don't throw the phone around - I'm pretty careful with it) - so far so good! Some have commented that the case interferes with the buttons on the front (bottom control buttons), but I actually like the way it's set-up because for me it provides a "base" for my finger to land on when I go to push a button. Hope this helps!

does the clip touch the camera glass when in holster? i wouldnt want to scratch the lens in anyway. thinking if i should just pull the trigger on the surface or wait for active

Bestbuy is now carrying the Seido Innocase surface combo pack in black. Case and holster, its under their "platinum" line of cases. Just picked one up today.

edit: Yes it fits with the verizon extended battery.

That's the exact same case as the Innocase Surface, just with a 'Platinum' branding? I bought that case knowing that it was made by Seidio for BB just under a different name, but when I got it out and was looking it over it seems like it's made of cheap hard plastic with a rubberized coating on the outside. Is this true for both the Platinum and the Surface cases (the plastic aspect)? I returned it thinking that it wouldn't provide much protection if the phone is dropped and the $35 price tag seemed high for the quality of material that was used. Anyone with experience with these cases or Seidio cases in general have any thoughts on this? I'm at a loss at which case to get now.

I just picked up the combo at BB. Never having owned a Seidio case, I don't know if it's the same or not. Studying the photos from Seidio's website, the case and holster appear to be the same except for the logo. BB was $38 (including tax) while ordering direct was $58. A very good savings if the case is, indeed, Seidio.

Sorry for the delay. No the clip does not touch the lens surface. However I may brush the lens (thereby smudging it) when I am unholstering the phone. No big deal in my opinion, though, as I usually give the lens a quick wipe anyway prior to taking pix or shooting video.

After finally receiving my DX, and spending two days with this case, I don't like it.

I'm a repeat Seidio customer, and loved my previous Innocase II on my N1. But this case just doesn't work for me. The fit seems not quite right, it's loose in multiple places. For example I can easily press on the back and it gives noticeably, and around the edges where it snaps together, it stays together just fine, but does not close completely.

When the phone vibrates, it makes a weird noise because of the gap on the back. Also when taking a picture with flash, you can clearly see the light leaking out from the gap on the edges.

I'm just torn on whether to ask for a replacement, or get a refund and try something else. I love the feel of the phone with nothing on it, but just don't want to chance it...

I had the surface II for my Incredible and loved it because of the way it snapped on, top to bottom (rather than front to back), much less likely to fly apart if it's dropped. I have the Rocketfish on my X and have managed to drop it 3-4 times (sigh), and it's definitely a flyer-aparter. I hate that! Given the comments here and the front-back configuration of the X seidio case, I think I'll keep waiting and get the otterbox or some other case. The Rocketfish is OK for now but it feels emotionally temporary

I got my surface combo a few days ago.

About the case:
For me the fit is perfect (no jiggling whatsoever). It adds a bit little bit of bulk to it, which I like. This means that when you put the screen face down, the screen doesn't touch the surface and it is raised off slightly. The grip is awesome and it feels secure in my hand compared to when I was using it without the case. It also doesn't seem to pick up much material thus keeping it relatively clean looking. The ports are well exposed and the buttons are accessible. The only one I had some issues with was the camera button because it makes it rather indented. Overall, the case does its job.

About the holster:
Personally I love the holster. If you read the instructions that came with it, you place the bottom part of the phone into the slot and then (here is the important part) you lift the spring clip at the top and place the rest of the phone in.

For those of you commenting that you can't just slide the phone without lifting the spring clip that's the way it's supposed to work. The fact is that it makes it way more secure. Can you imagine if you slightly brushed the clip and then your phone fell out? I know I wouldn't be happy about it. There is also a felt lining so that when you place the phone in the holster, the screen doesn't get scratched up. The exposed side, now the surface case, gives adequate protection from dings and small accidental bump ins with "something".
