Help What Am I Doing Wrong? Downloading Pics From Epic To PC..

When I download pictures from the Epic in disk drive mode it DOUBLES all the pictures in the download 2 of each pic on my pc ???

One other thing I have noticed one picture is full sized the second is a smaller format?????

Yes connecting to PC via USB port then selecting "mass storage" mode. then auto play pops up and I select what I always have done "import pictures using windows" after clicking on that it will tell me I have for example 10 pictures even though its only 5. Once downloaded I have duplicate pictures one full sized one VGA sized in my pictures file.??

Oh, that's an easy one then! Basically what your phone, after you take a picture, converts that picture into a "thumbnail" image for use in your gallery app. The problem is, when you go to D/L them to the computer in the method that you are using, it doesn't recognize that they aren't the pictures you want. That is, this is why you have doubles.

The easier way (compared to sorting through them all) is to Mount your SD Card, click on "Open Folder to View Files," click on "DCIM" and finally click on "Camera."

That's where all your camera photos are stored.


If you look under DCIM/.thumbnails you can see the smaller images that you were getting duplicates of.

OK but why does this not happen with my EVO only the Epic? Is there a setting on the Epic that can be changed?

No idea... wife is using her Evo so I can't check for you.

Perhaps the Evo saves them in a different file format other than .jpeg?

See I just hooked my Evo up and the thumb nail file is empty even though there are photos. I wonder if there is a setting on the Epic to stop it from making the thumb nails?

Please do me a favor take a couple of test photos and try loading therm to your computer the way I did and see if you get the double set in your photo folder like me.

Hmmm... sure enough, I do NOT get that problem. No idea now....

I did a master reset also just in case I might have changed something by accident. Its doing it on both of my laptops also. looks like its bact to best buy. DAM!

YES, but ONLY on pictures taken from the phone. Pictures that were transfered to the SD card (that also have the thumbnail image) do NOT duplicate.

How strange. I always down load photos this way and never had a phone do the thumb nails too. Thank you so much I did 4 master resets and was up till 4 am trying to figure out what was wrong. It was making me crazy. Maybe its a glitch of some sort.
