Does anyone but me still love their Epic 4g?

There are plenty of threads about users who are disappointed. I love my Epic 4g. I don't have problems with my GPS. I love the screen. Both the physical keyboard is the best I've ever had. Swype on the on-screen keyboard makes writing so easy. I'm getting at least 10-12hrs. of battery life.

I'm very pleased with my Epic.

simcha I'm so glad to hear this. I just ordered mine and was starting to worry that I had mad a mistake, before I even got the phone. I have read posts on here where people definitely like their phone but I was starting to see the negative more than the positive. I hope there are a lot of Epic owners that will chime in on this post.

When you're dealing with smart phones that are capable of doing so much, there are bound to be a few issues, and these issues are going to get posted. Perhaps even more than people having positive experiences with the phone, because those with issues what fixes. I've had my share of problems with this phone, I'm on my fourth now. And some of the problems wont be fixed until there is a maintenance or system software update. But overall I'm very happy with the phone, because it does everything I want it too, and I'm confident Samsung and Sprint will optimize and iron out the few bugs it does have.

Well, forums are normally focused on negatives... like every phone, there's good and bad. To me, I really have few complaints with the epic. Amazing screen, great keyboard, good call quality (in my experience), I haven't had crashes or anything like that. I suppose like any Droid phone it's all about working out the kinks and what not.

Battery life is probably the biggest downside, but from what I've read the EVO has even worse. I'm getting pretty good battery life overall for all that I expect this beast to do

It is a good phone with a number of pluses and a nubmer of issues. the main issues are mostly identified and may or may not get fixed. The main gps issue ticks people experiencing it off, since with the general Galaxy line having GPS problems it should have been better tested, but i has a decent workaround and you can either apply that or reset your device on the occasions when you get a situation where it doesn't work and you are ok.

the 3g download issue is even more shocking, and harms users daily, but it is likely we will see some action on that in measures of weeks, not months.

my own epirence is that the radio itself is not top notch, so if you live or work in low signal conditions you might be better off looking at the evo.

If you go into it knowing those things I would recommend the phone -- and I am one of the most strident critics of the bugs.

The fact is the screen is beautiful, an that is your main interface. Coming from years of WM I thought of android as less powerful, but Androids operating system speed and relative stability is frankly a pleasure with every single use, basic or intensive.

As with ANY big screen smartphone you will want a lot sof chargers. like one on your main floor, one in your bedroom (a cheap en is ok there) one in your office and one in your car -- again like with any smartphone.

I say go for it. Baby it and there is no restocking fee if n a couple days you make find you would prefer the slightly better reception of the evo, as that is the one issue that likely isn't going to change with wither action from sprint or users.

the 4g is great when workign well (outdoors or close to outdoors). it it compelling and completely changes browsing and viwing video streams expericnce

that leaves, say in an epic and evo decision, the issue of the keyboard. I am coming from front facing qwerty (treos) adn work a lot with text on the run. I have found for writing say 20 words the I don't use the keyboard,. but at least once daily I seriously need and use it. My one high schooler coming from rumor to touch pro to epic said he absolutely needed the slide out full keyboard in his epic/evo decsion -- yet now never uses the keyboard on his epic and uses swipe 100% of the time

Moving from a Palm Centro, I LOVE THIS PHONE! I don't get the best battery life but that was easily remedied by getting extra non-OEM batteries for very cheap.

Forums are about trouble shooting and feedback. Its not negative, its just the nature of the beast.

A lot of the folks around here are pretty high strung, and tend to get really wound up over pretty minor stuff.

I love this phone, and there has never been any question in my mind if I would keep it or not.

Maybe you didn't mean it but that is a bit condescending. Identifying and putting extreme pressure early on is key to getting the carrier to force the maker to fix problems. lots of major problems with smartphones are never fixed without it. and lots of people on the other side, deny problems and could be called" high strung" for doing so becasue they don't want to think of their purchase as having any flaws.

it's only a little over 4 weeks old, still on my first one from launch day, of course i wish the battery can handle all the things i want it to do at once, but it's an awesome phone...uh...device. as i mentioned in my other post, when the fixes come for the two major issues and froyo upgrade..oh my....

This is my first Android phone and I love it. I love the phone and I love the OS. The phone is just amazing. As others have pointed out, it has a few issues but none of the functions are crippled to where you can't use it.

I still love this phone. I turned 5 people on to the Samsung Galaxy line and they all love their phones. Love them. None of us have had any major problems.

Once I finally get one that works right I will be happy too! Maybe number 5 will be the "charm". I have been on the fence all along with this handset on returning it on Thursday my 30th day, but today I decided to keep it, there is nothing else out there that I like better right now.

You won't be disappointed. Don't forget it's already a fast phone - AND it still hasn't received Froyo yet. I have both the Evo and the Epic and I love both equally. I really love how smooth the Epic is though. The video quality is insane and so is how beautiful the screen display is. The commercials don't lie when it comes to watching movies on this thing. The sound and video are phenomenal.

Honestly, all phones have issues. You just need to read up on the phones you like and pick the one with issues that effect you the least. Yes it has its problems, so did my Instinct, so did my Hero, but the Epic by far is better than any of those. And my next phone will be better than the Epic when I upgrade next year. I really like this phone and everyone that sees it just raves about the display. The Hero also had its battery issues, so being tied to a charger all the time is really nothing new to me, although I think with the Epic I am going to get an extended battery this time around. And if no one complained about the issues, then they wouldn't get fixed (although saying that no matter how much everyone screamed the Instinct's issues were never resolved, just seemed like they were made worse).

Even though you expect better battery life when you're updating like this, if you've had an Android device before, you would be getting better battery with this running the same way that your old Android did. Besides that, apps like JuiceDefender are great and I am getting over 24hours of battery life with my device. Also, everything is working seamlessly and the display is beautiful. Small things will be fixed in time and Froyo will come at some point; patience is great with any product updates.

My wife likes hers, now that she got one that has working buttons. She's on #3 but so far, this one seems to be a good one.

I have to say that my Epic is great I came to this phone straight from a Blackberry Curve 8330. Even though I had one with a hardware issue that I'll call a fluke this phone is amazing. The support for this phone and android in general is so much better than my old Blackberry.

This is a great device and on wifi its faster than my laptop on the web with my wireless N network at home.

I should also mention that my fiance much prefers the Epic over the EVO. I gave her my old EVO when I bought the Epic... but after seeing my Epic, she wanted one for herself. She actually has NO complaints... but she's not a very technical person. She can't really tell if something is actually wrong with it
