Hello, whats 2G and 3G? One more question over my connection thing there is a R over it what does that mean?
Okay so a couple of things we need to see here:
1. Mobile telecommunication is done at certain frequencies.
2. There are ecrtain standardization organizations which standardize which part of the spectrum shall be used for mobile telephony, and what protocols shall be used, for the simple reason that these can then be used across the globe and two devices should be able to connect to each other anywhere in the world.
Now initially the focus was more on Voice communication, but as we progressed technologically wireless transfer of data assumed more and more importance and also emphasised the need of standardization.
Hence from 1 G (The first generation digital communication) to 2G (a different frequency band for coomunication and higher speeds of data transfer achievable) to 2.5 G - 2.75G - 3G (A very obvious difference between 2G and 3G here is that with 3G phones you can do a video call)-going onwards to 4G the rate of data transfer has improved significantly.
In fact i ve myself used phones initially where browsing was not even an option...even an sms needs to be stopped at 160 characters...the phone wudnt automatically make it appended sms etc...
Now in India we have 3G services, however my carrier doesnt support one so the front camera of my phone is for decoration purpose only...nonetheless we are getting at it....
In fact recently the 4G spectrum was auctioned by our government and certain players are already working their way to provide a 4G network services....
