what keyboards are u guys using?

I have been using, Evo Stock, Vlingo, Swype, swiftKey graffiti (just like the on the palm) and now SlideIt. I liked Swype a lot but it was a pain entering logins (especially passwords). That's why I switch to graffiti when I am entering passwords. Yesterday I actually paid $8.95 and got SlideIt and I love it so far (except for the fact that it is not free like Swype). It works like Swype but also has voice entry and (with my fingers at least) has a better feel and fewer errors than Swype. But I won't uninstall Swype just in case.

I have no idea how to make this work. I download the file (a zip) and then when I open it there is no APK. There is a bunch of like .dex and folders named lib, meta-inf, and res. I think maybe this is only if you are rooted?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Hmmm I just noticed that when I unzip the file for a quick second it says apk, then it changes. I wonder if this is a mac issue?

LOVED Swype until I couldn't get it anymore (I wasn't part of the Beta), and tried all the others: SwiftKey, SlideIt, Shapewriter, Ultra. I really liked SlideIT, but the demo expired and I thought it was too expensive to buy - plus it drove me crazy that it didn't have symbols available on long key press. I tried SwiftKey again (even purchased it), but went on to Shapewriter because I can type much quicker on a "slide" type keyboard. I grabbed Swype again from the link provided by Raezk (above) and was so happy to have it back ... but then I decided to try Ultra on a whim. I didn't know it would swipe so I'd never tried it before. I absolutely LOVE the customization you can do on it. It lets you change basically EVERYTHING, including the size of the keys and what it does for almost all the actions. The best part is it has voice recognition in it AND it has arrow key navigation (something I missed having in Swype). So, it kind of put all the things I like into one keyboard. AND it wasn't expensive to buy. The demo is good for 24 hours, but I didn't even make it 24 hours before I decided to purchase it.

Thanks GG, I never would have even bothered to download a free demo without a 'swype' type option.

Once the 24 hr trial expires this will surely be the first app I purchase! This combined with Handcent is AMAZING!

Here is what I did. Once you have the unzipped files on your storage card.

Go to the System Folder, then the App folder and then choose the LatinIME file. Choose Open App Manager and install it.
