Root CalKulin's Evio 2 Rom V1.5.1

after trying all the sense ROMs (literally) at least twice, this is my daily driver - fast, stable and love the theme and notification icons. speed/performance is mostly in the kernel, but for some reason this ROM just feels faster than any ROM i've tried with the same kernels. a lot of his work is also used in many other ROMs which says something to me.

on top of the now becoming generic tweaks (unlock usb tethering, moved dalvik-cache to cache partition, Upped MMS size limit to 5MB, etc.) some things that sets this ROM apart from the others:
- Removed haptic feedback from dialer
- Zip to remove sense
- Reduced auto brightness range to increase battery life
- Desire HD flip clock

nand backup and try it out :D it comes loaded with kings #11. i'm running kings #6 bfs since my phone won't take #11.

I've used both of them, and I decided to stick with myn's Warm. A lot of the tweaks in CalKulin's are either in myn's Warm as well, or are provided by CalKulin for use with any Sense based ROM. Also, switching kernels is very easy, so don't decide on a ROM based on its default kernel. That being said, I agree with quocamole in that you should do a nand backup and try it out. You have nothing to lose by it.

It feels like a ROM designed for benchmarks instead of practicality. There are some times where you can tell it is a hair faster but overall it feels about the same speed. I had constant issues with Facebook pictures showing up in contacts and Sense repeatedly force closed (I did not care to use the included adw launcher). I tried it for a while but those issues, coupled with the fact that it doesn't look as clean, sent me back to Myn's.

I cannot accurately comment on battery life given I didn't use the ROM for very long, but it seemed in line with Myn's.

I like EViO, but I like Warm better. EViO gets better performance scores, but doesn't feel any faster. Warm feels smoother, the search button works, and with Netarchy4191CFS I get better battery life. While purely subjective opinion, I also prefer the theming in Warm.

calk provides a zip to restore the search button functionality.

myn's theme (manup) is nice. i was hooked, but calk kept coming up with new things in his rom so i jumped ship :D

Find and click the link toward the top left of this page called "User CP". On the left side of the page that opens, under "Your Control Panel", look seven links down to "Edit Signature". Click there, and enter the text you would like in your sig.

The 3mp issue has been fixed.

Just flashed v1.6 today and I'm liking it so far. Speedy and no lag.
