Root Huawei Ascend = Metro Pcs Owner

Super easy to root, suggested applications after root = SetCPU / Barnacle / Beautiful Widgets / Launcher Pro.

Currently there are no custom ROM's for this phone, people have hinted at various ones in development, but nothing rock solid as of yet.

Last but not least, please dont root if your not comfortable with terms like 'root', or 'kernel'! If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask :)

I had a mytouch 3g back in the days, so I know all about rooting. Problem is I do not know exactly how to do it for this phone. I need the proper steps from beginning to end on how to accomplish it.

I downloaded z4root to my computer but do not know how and where to place it onto my phone so my phone can recognize it and run it

Alright no problem, If you head over to SuckMyDroid.com on your Phone, go to the download link at the top, then click on Rooting tools. From there click Z4Root. This will download it on your phone and install with the package installer. I have a whole tutorial on Z4Root if you fancy heading over to the tutorials link at the top of the site, then click on the 'Universal Method' which explains everything to you step by step.

Got it to work, thanks....

Now what are some cool things I can do? I know for sure I need to overclock the systems cpu, how do I do that?

What else?

Thanks!!!!!!!

You cant fully overclock the phone's CPU as you would need a modified kernel for such a thing, SetCPU gives you the ability to control how your CPU works, my suggestion to you would be to set the mode to OnDemand, set your max to 600 and your min to 320 or something mid range like that to conserve battery when your not using the device.

Other than that, some cool app's that i would recommend to mod the way your phone looks are Beautiful Widgets / Launcher Pro, perhaps Barnacle wifi Tether.

Any way to get around the price...... All of those apps cost money :(

Mika, are you refering to the lock screen or the homescreen?

If you are refering to the lock screen then you can download WidgetLocker (WidgetLocker Lockscreen - Android app on AppBrain) and add the Missed Call (Missed Call - Android app on AppBrain) widget to the lock screen.

The Missed Call widget will show the last recieved call.

If you were refering to the homescreen, you can just get the Missed Call widget and add it to the homescreen.

You can drag the notification bar down at the top of the screen to see missed calls after you unlock the phone.

Still nothing ive searched this problem and seems to be im the onnly thi@ is happening to :-[

Hi Tokill88, I'm having the same problem. Just upgraded my Ascend to Android 2.2.2. I tried z4root v1.3; and Gingerbreak v1.1, v1.2, v1.3. I wonder if the main exploit was patched between Android 2.2.1 and 2.2.2? I haven't heard of any complaints about not being able to root 2.2.1 (though maybe I just haven't read enough...). I had no trouble root-ing 2.1 and removing all the bloatware...

Anyone know if it's possible to "downgrade" to 2.2.1?

Any help is appreciated!

Try superone Click. A friend had problems rooting after flashing back to stock and super one click worked perfectly.
