[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

I think im going to try to push for an early upgrade tonight. I've got a droid X but my girlfriend is using my old storm 1 which is locking up/crashing every day. I've got an upgrade available near the end of next month so hopefully they will give it to me early if I tell them I want to buy the thunderbolt. then Ill give my girlfriend the X

Okay, already set up a date with my gf to go to the Verizon store first thing Thursday morning to buy me my (belated) birthday present. :) I'm taking off of work and all! Still interested to know about the 1-year pricing for the device though. But yeah, already gave them all the info for my account and corporate discount. I'm coming back to Verizon from 2-years of AT&T (meh) and want to make sure EVERYTHING is in place. So in less than 48 hours, I shall have the LTEs...

So we are al happy about the phone, but is everyone comfortable that the battery issue is fixed?

Also - any news on if you have to toggle the LTE on and off to save battery life? That won't be fun.

I'm not really worried about the battery life so I would have to say yes I'm comfortable to answer your first question. Haven't heard anything about NOT having to toggle LTE on and off. But I'd assume it would be the same thing as for switching back and forth from 3G. This will be my first Android device, but from what I've read I'm pretty sure you can set up a widget on your home screen to toggle LTE on and off if you want to conserve battery. I'm fine with doing that.

I called and got a super weird answer. I asked her if we could upgrade my second line that was due on 4/4 early on Thursday. She said she couldn't move the upgrade date, but she could order the phone for me on Thursday. So I said, "So you're saying that I can upgrade that line at the discounted price on Thursday, and the contract date will remain the same, effectively renewing on 4/4?" She said, "The contract date will be 3/17/11-3/17/13.":thinking::thinking: Okie dokie! She said I would have to call in so they could approve it at the time of the order. That's fine. Too bad she was clear as mud, though.

Most likely you will just like everyother 4G phone . But we'll know in a couple days forsure

What about all the people who claim they've played with one? Don't any of them care to chime in with the "Does it have a toggle for 4G?" question? If I'd played with one, that would have been the 2nd or 3rd thing I would have looked for since there were battery issues, and it uses a sim for authentication.

Ya' know, I think that lady used to work for Bank of America because I swear I've talked to her before...

Can we have a review thread for the Thunderbolt? By this, I mean reviews by members of this forum.

We won't stop you - thread create tool is at the upper left of the thread list. ;)

Best expect all reviews to go into a kinda official thread. :)

I'd also suggest that dedicated threads for posting pictures, and one for discussing battery and configuration, and one to discuss who's gotten 4G in their area and how it's working out.

Just some idea. ;)

I'll try and clarify it for you. She gave you what you wanted...she approved your early upgrade. The reason she told you that you had to order it over the phone is because they just put a "note" on your account. This note that states you are eligible for an upgrade and is all you need to order the t-bolt by calling VZW customer service. If you called in to order the phone and you got a rep that told you that you weren't eligible yet...you could just tell them that a CSR put a note on your account on 3/15. Once a note is on your account, no other CSR can dispute it (even if you were only 6 months into a new contract).

The stores aren't going to let you upgrade early...they don't care about the "note" on your account. Your upgrade eligibility hasn't really changed as far as the store is concerned. Log into your VZW online account and check your eligibility for a new phone (you see that you are not yet eligible).

Does that make sense or am I just rambling? :)

Edit: And yes, your contract date would become 3/17/11 because you purchased a new handset on that date. The 4/4 date is now out the window.

Just for clarification, it may say you qualify for an update, but for whatever reason going through Wirefly or some other retailer, they may not honor Verizon's upgrade. Don't make the mistake I did by assuming that they'll see the upgrade status when processing your order. So far I have $230 blocked off on my CC but with no actual order.
