Root **Official GB leak 2 thread** (was Anyone get OTA 4.5.588? Possibly Gingerbread OTA?)

For anyone interested I just .sbf'ed back to stock Froyo and then did a System update search, "You device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time." I expected as much, now back to custom ROMs.

EDIT: Then again, with what is being reported about them "silently" pushing the OTA to phones it kind of makes the update check worthless anyway.

Posted in the other thread but I have it fully installed running good so far and is rooted:D

Should , I installed right over froyo without wiping and all data etc is still there

you will bootloop. you need to wipe data and cache. only data from a GB rom can be restored.

So which is it?

gmenfan83, no persistent sync icon for you like some reported?

I guess I'm going to try. I have a current Titanium backup I can use to restore programs, if necessary.

So, none of you guys got the Netflix app on the update? I have it on mine and it Logs in, searches and goes all the way till you can select a movie to stream. Then it says

"Sorry, We could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems Persist please visit netflix.com. (12001)."

Also, I think I did something wrong because my Gingerbread is not stable. I have no music player and can not see my Media Gallery. It Forces Close a lot and even reboots a lot. It lags and in general I am going to just go back to Froyo. If anyone can help me please let me know what to do. BTW. I'm a noob with Android. the X is the first Droid I owned.

i am just so used to doing a wipe before every install. i may try to restore my GB data after i install.

Yeah I'm in the habit as well but I saw p3 said only 15% of testers wiped so I assumed his testers came from stock/root froyo since those were his main instructions so I went with it ,,may bite me in the arse though we wil see

I've never used the Droid 2 Bootstrap recovery before.

What's the process? I load the program, then which option do I click? Then where does it take me to load these 3 files?

Use d2 the same as dx recovery , load the 3 files on the root of your sd card , go into d2 recovery then
Install zip from sd
Choose zip
Scroll to zip part 1 and install
Zip 2 install
Zip 3 install
Make sure to do them all in order and do not leave recovery until all 3 are flashed
