With Asus not listed on the preferred OEMs list what are the chances that Transformer owners are left back on updates?

Also, do you think the skinning that Asus has done on top of Stock Android to add the usability of their dock will affect the Transformer's ability to get updates. There was a picture of the Transformer on Stage today during the keynote. I wonder how that will affect things.

Hopefully being a smaller company, Asus will be on top of sending out updates. Keep in mind that they haven't really entered into the Android market until this release of the Transformer, which I believe is their first Android device.

And as far as Asus skinning stock Android, I don't think they made too many changes other than putting on some of their apps, adding a few Asus widgets (date and weather), and customizing the menu buttons. I don't see why those small changes/updates would affect them being able to update their users to future versions of Android.

Asus is the manufacturer of the Garminphone, so this isn't their first Android device.

The Asus Facebook page reads:

Hi all,

We know you’re anxious about our Android 3.1 update. We’ve heard from our PM team that ASUS has already received the Android 3.1 code from Google and work has started on the update.

We will provide Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updates for all ASUS Eee Pad tablet devices on a market by market basis. This online firmware update will include Android 3.1.

Watch this page for more updates, no pun intended.
