PLEASE refrain from commenting in this thread unless it is specifically related to what my OP is. I'm glad Swype works with x number of 3rd party applications. I'm glad it works on different ROMs. I am only discussing STOCK text messaging application on the HTC Thunderbolt.
Since some people don't seem to understand what I mean when I say Swype doesn't work. I am talking about using Swype in the STOCK text messaging application. Yes you can still use it but Auto-Spacing and Auto-Caps does NOT work.
I looked through the threads in this forum and only saw ~15 threads on Swype and none of them stating why it doesn't work and whether or not people have taken the initiative to email HTC or send them a comment on Twitter or Facebook.
Here is the current email/response I am going through with HTC. If you guys could email them at

ME said:Hi,
I just purchased the HTC Thunderbolt yesterday. I like the phone so far, however, I have one issue. Swype does not work for text messaging. I've already researched the problem and Swype confirms it is an issue on your end. Find below.
"The Thunderbolt has a known problem with not properly flagging it's SMS input field as an SMS field, rather it behaves as a web address field. Because of this Swype will not auto space in the native SMS Application."
Thanks!

I understand some of you don't like Swype or don't use it, if that is so, please refrain from commenting in this thread. My post isn't directed at you.You were having issues using a third party application for the keyboard on your HTC ThunderBolt. You mention that the SWYPE application does not work in text messaging on your Android device. I understand that you are having issues using the SWYPE application in text messaging but you should be aware that this is a third party application. HTC does not offer support for the use of third party applications or software.
You might try uninstalling the SWYPE application then re-install it back onto your Android device. You should complete a soft reset after you complete the re-install.
Uninstalling third-party applications You cannot uninstall applications that are preinstalled on the phone.
1. Press HOME > MENU > tap Settings.
2. Tap Applications > Manage applications.
3. On the Downloaded tab, tap the application you want to uninstall.
4. On the Application info screen, tap Uninstall.
If you feel you need more information about this issue, you are welcome to send us another email for further troubleshooting or you can contact the HTC Technical Support team at 1-866-449-8358 daily from 6:00AM until 1:00AM Eastern.
