 Seriously, I rather you just remained in Twitter-land,VZW. Verizon social media is an Epic Fail. What is the use of being able to tweet Verizon, if you don't have any information anyway? If you don't have dates, then we don't need a post telling us you don't have a date. We already know that you can't or won't tell us anyway. Stick to announcing tiered data and iPhone propaganda.

It is evident that there is no information from Verizon by the numerous people that posted here who called your representatives and got responses which range from "there will be no gingerbread update" to "yes. you will receive your gingerbread update next week." Your posting here doesn't clear up ANY speculation, because (like you said) you don't know. See, we are looking for someone who DOES know or might know, since the best you can offer us is "we don't know." That forces us to scrape the internet for tidbits of information, since all is quiet from Verizon. We wouldn't need a speculation thread, if you told us SOMETHING!

Here is something to pass along to your bosses. We would much rather you publish a list of approximate dates, which you update periodically through the process of releasing the update. I would be a lot more understanding if I knew a date and was told the update was delayed so you can fix problems with it, instead of the denials and misleading statements we get along the official channels. This is one of the reasons why the iPhone is looking to favorable to me. I know you wouldn't oppose Apple when they release their updates, since you sold your soul to them.

I'm sorry if my post didn't yeild the details that everyone here is so eager to get. Please appreciate that my intention was not to provide details of anything prior to being given authorization to do so. Rather my purpose to is to try to explain our positioning thus far on this topic. It's been stated here that our internal policies might prevent me from releasing information without authorization. I agree with this.

And yes, I am really a Verizon Wireless employee. In fact, it is my job to do so. As a member of VZW's Social Media Response Team, I am fully authorized to post on threads, blogs and forums when our input seems warranted. So I will be posting these threads from time to time. Thanks again for your attention!

This is fun, very reminiscent of the Froyo speculation thread (for those of us oldtimers who were around back then). I give a +1 for the entertainment value... it's been too quiet around these parts.

It'll also be fun after the update finally does come (which it will) when people start complaining about Gingerbread and asking how they can go back to Froyo (there'll be all kinds of comments in the "*#@%#$! Gingerbread update screwed up my phone!" threads which will pop up the next day.

Looking forward to the fun. Personally, I've been rooted since root became available for the Inc, and I'm still running my tweaked build of stock Sense Froyo that I installed last August or whenever it was, along with the HydraKernel that came out at the same time. I'm in no hurry... my phone still works perfectly, close to 2 days between charges. My mantra has always been "let the early adopters be the beta testers". I'll be updating to Gingerbread only after all the bugs have been worked out (that ability is a plus of being rooted).

One bit of wisdom from someone who's been working with custom ROMs since the days of my PPC-6700, over 6 years ago... one result of an update, be it OTA or custom, is that it has the effect of "cleaning up your phone" and they always run better at first. Then, after you install all the extra apps you just can't live without, and start using up your phone's memory, you'll realize that the new ROM didn't do as much as you thought it did. Take it for what it's worth... sometimes the grass is really greener on your side of the fence.

There... 10 posts worth of my worthless opinions all crammed into one post. I'm caught up now. :)

Answerman, like you I remember fondly the Froyo thread. I was also here for the other epic thread, the "when is my Incredible shipping" thread during the screen shortage of 2010. Unfortunately, my time with my incredible is short, as it went through the wash, and now bluetooth, wifi, hotspot, and more importantly, my phone mic no longer function correctly or at all. It is valiantly limping along until I decide what to do. I am actually tempted to wait for gingerbread, and see if it bricks it due to the issues it is having, and possibly get a new phone as a result.

If you try that, you'll want to check to see if the water indicator tripped. If you return it with bad indicators, odds are they'll charge you full price for the replacement.

Exactly correct. There are also moisture indicators inside of the phone, which you will see if you take it apart. Check out ebay and craigslist. you can get a great deal and won't have to worry about being charged $500

So Dion -

I was wondering if you can "officially" confirm a few items regarding GB.

1.) Will there be a GB release for the Incredible?
2.) If so will it have any effect on the battery life?
3.) Will it help with the out of memory issue?

Knowing the answers to these three questions will help me to understand how much to hope for this release. Thank you in advance for your response.

I am new to this, and am wondering what happens to Go Launcher when (if) the 2.3 OTA comes. Does the set-up that I've put together need to be redone?

And in general, will I need to re-install all of my apps, contacts, etc. I have them all backed up to SD and to Lookout, so that is not a problem.

I am running stock 2.2 with Go Launcher on a D-Inc. I purchased it with 2.2 already installed, so I did not deal with the Froyo update.

Thoughts?
