I really wasn't attacking him. I repeatedly, clearly, and concisely asked for the build date in an effort to vet him. He constantly refused, "forgot," or played dumb. I'm sorry, but no matter how many times he guesses at the update date, I will not believe him. He cannot provide proof that he is a Verizon employee. So, with that said, I'm washing my hands of THAT subject until he can provide a build date (before another leak or the OTA).

Back on topic, I've played with the GB leak and even released a slightly customized version over at XDA (click link in sig) back in May. I'm not a fan of it due to a few issues, primarily serious bluetooth issues. I pray that this isn't the version sent to Verizon. If it is, I may stay on 2.2 indefinitely.

Medion, how is the battery life with the leak?

I didn't use it enough to give it a fair shot. I pushed the build out after rudimentary testing since many of my users (all 5 of them?) requested it. I'm sticking with Liberation 1.1 (based off November OTA, see sig) until I get my hands on the next leak or OTA to play with.

From what some of my users have said, default battery life is better than the November OTA, but you don't have any custom kernels yet. Lou's kernels, for example, offer superior battery life on version 1.x (November OTA).

Gingerbread wasn't a huge leap over Froyo. Yes, there are some really nifty convenience features on Gingerbread that folks might notice. I'm running MIUI right now and enjoying 2.3.4. If Verizon isn't going to update my phone, I will.

Now if I could just find a way to remove the red accents from this phone I would be happy. Kind of wish the phone looked more like my old Eris.

Well I can only figure everyone now knows that I am indeed an employee as I have stated the July 11th update date almost two weeks prior and long before anyone on the internet knew. You can not just guess a date like that, what are the chances?

I'd say 3 in 3. It was almost certain that atleast one of the incredibles or the Thunderbolt would get the update in the 5week period after you first posted. Since verizon starts them on Monday, there are 5 possible start days. Since one was a holiday you can safely rule that out, and its a good bet that if it was the first week it would have leaked before you posted. Leaving 3 dates.

Since if any of the 3 phones hit, you could claim a win, your odds are pretty good.

So... no. Giving us a date for the wrong phone doesn't really do much to help your credibility.

You're over reacting (as did the reporter). The three 4G phones in question had a FREE wi-fi tethering option that was detailed as expiring on this date. However, the expiration required a pushed update. It only affects those three phones, and they will now have to either purchase a tethering plan or "hack" like the rest of us on the Incredible.

Thunderbolt owners can use the same ##778 method we've been using.

So, now that the DInc2 has officially tasted Gingerbread what is happening with the original Dinc's update. A leaked version gave us some hope a while back and word was that by the end of the 2nd quarter we should have some Gingerbread on the phone. Well, since then I haven't even heard a whisper about Gingerbread.

Anybody have any thoughts or heard any new rumors about Gingerbread on the DInc? If we do get it this will probably be the last OS update we get so it would be nice if they give us a taste.

Considering all that's gone on in this thread, I think there's going to be a whole lotta disappointed people when GB does hit the Inc. Kinda like the kid waking up on Christmas morning hoping for a new bike and ending up with socks and underwear. GB is REALLY not that big of a deal in the way of an upgrade IMO.

Agreed. I'll be happy if it's the leak with the bugs fixed (mainly bluetooth), but I was disappointed by the leak.
