Root [CDMA] Toggling back to S-ON/removing Root possible?

That's kind of what I was worried about, but I found this at XDA claiming that you can go back to S-ON and stock/unrooted just now. Perhaps someone with a much larger amount of knowledge (so really, any at all) can glance at it and see what they think? I haven't read the thread thoroughly or anything at XDA, that's where I'll be off to for the next few minutes.

This is a tutorial to revert to 100% stock as like when you bought your phone! Read the whole entire thing before you start!

1)Download the RUU here:
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
2)Copy to the root of your sd card
3)Boot into bootloader by either using quickboot from market or pulling battery and holding power+volume down until you see bootloader.
4)Bootloader will scan for PG86IMG
5)Click power button to select install for the file
6)Bootloader will now install, you are now on the stock sprint ROM
7)Now plug your device in, and navigate to the fastboot setting from the menu and select it(power button)
8)Open CMD with the fastboot files in with the adb files
9)Run the command "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" without quotes
10)You should now be 100% stock unrooted and s-on!

Included is the fastboot and adb files, when you get to step 7 run the start here, and get into fastboot on your phone either through bootloader or typing 'adb reboot bootloader' while having your phone on charge only mode. then continue on your way to s-on:)
Download fastboot and adb files here:
Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

*Remember never do this with the eng hboot, you could brick, only do this on ship hboot!

I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device!

Maybe someone can convert this into a flashable zip that would automatically do the steps for you?

That all looks correct.

An RUU is a kinda image of the phone's important bits as distributed by Sprint. In the past, I've seen people support RUU methods to get back to stock or warn against it - and I've always only seen those kind of threads survive when the OP knows their stuff.

Follow ALL instructions to a complete T.

Any issues with making outbound calls? Error 16? Just curious.

No issues with outbound calls after rooting or going back. I did factory reset the phone right before root. I also wiped completely with twrp before putting the ruu back on and then writing the flag setting. I don't think that had anything to do with it but no error 16 going to s-off or back to s-on.

I also have a guide that I wrote on XDA to do this as well. It varies ever so slightly but has the same affect. My Guide is a little bit newer because it is for the 1.13 update while the guide above is for 1.11 update.

My guide is here: [HOW TO] Return to 100% stock 1.13.651.7 / ROM - Recovery - S-ON! - xda-developers

I will eventually get around to doing one for 2.08 but have not had time yet with all my ROM Development :)

But if anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to help!

I dont do GSM shooters, only Sprint.

It would if you have the appropriate RUU.

Yea, I have the appropriate RUU in the XDA EVO GSM thread, so I will give that a shot.

Just wasn't too sure if I should follow the this instruction:

Run the command "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" without quotes

Good guide scrosler. Wish there was one for the GSM shooteru version.

EDIT: i need to read more! Found the guide in the XDA evo gsm page. :)

Im not sure about the writesecure flag due to different radios (CDAM / GSM)... But if you found a GSM specific guide thats even better, lol!
