Help Random "message not sent" error

For the past month or so, all three of the Droid X's in my house (mine, my husband's and my son's) have sporadically gotten a "message not sent" error when texting. Most times, it happens even when you try to re-send, and text messaging is not possible until you turn the phone off and back on. If we were all using the same text application, that would be my first guess, but one of us uses Go, one uses Handcent and one uses the stock messaging app. It's also not confined to a certain person or people we are texting...sometimes it happens when we're texting each other. It's really annoying to have to reboot my phone at least once a day because of this issue. Of course, the only help the Verizon people could provide was "*228", which I did, but the next day, it happened again. Any ideas? I tried searching the forum but didn't see anything that sounded like the same problem I'm having.

Been happening to me as well. Only a reboot will resolve the issue temporarily it seems.

I found that when this happens, the phone isn't on the 3G network...

I've had it happen both on and off 3g. That said, 3g (at least in my area) has been crap lately.

You can thank GB. Its related to the 3g getting dropped after the update. Several people including myself are having this issue.

Fabulous. So I'm guessing there's no fix at this point. Wonder if we can expect one?

Got this error today, no calls were going out either.
There is a rumor of a GB fix in the works, but who knows when that will happen...

have you tried putting the phone into airplane mode, then turning airplane mode back off to see if it will let you send?
