Root Sprint HOTSPOT WiFi Teather

I am looking to use the SPRINT WiFi Teathering. I have downloaded apps from the market for the ROOTED EVO,but they Suck. I asm using the WiFi I found on the market right now. It works like Dial Up. It says my speed is 54mbps and I have all my bars green and stong signal. I use this for my laptop only when Im out from home and I dont connect any other devices to it. Any help please would be awesomly greatful for.

Also I found a file and downloaded it. Its called EVO_WiMAX_27243, but I dont know how to use it. Its downloaded as a zipped compressed folder.Is it for hacking and using EVO builtin WiFi?And my evo is rooted.

I believe that is a wimax(4g) radio update. That will not likely solve your issue. Make sure to make a nandroid backup including Wimax before you flash anything(especially radios).

Well some roms have the actual hotspot app your phone comes with hacked like mikG 2.45 try it out

Can you clarify what is giving you a reading of 54Mbs. Is it the Laptop WiFi connection or something else? I assume you mean your laptop says connected at 54Mbs. If that is the case then it is kinda generic as that is what a typical wireless network connects at.

Also your probably connecting at 3g speeds which sadly can become quite bogged down and give you slow .5-1mb speeds in reality. If your pages take 5-10 seconds to load thats probably OK for overloaded 3G. If they take like 30-45 seconds to load that would compare to dial up.

It takes the 30-45 seconds to load a page. Sometimes I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and then I got to refresh the page and wait another 45 seconds to load. Thats why I would like to use the Sprint Hotspot other than a WiFi app.

What are you using now. and do you prefer Sense or Non-Sense?

If you have never flashed a new rom i would suggest MikG2.45
If you have flashed many roms Mik3D would be nice, but it is in Beta.

I personally am running the evolution Mik3d Mod.

Checkout the roms and kernels sticky at the top of this page.

most roms have it unlocked. try mikg2.45 or in a bit mikg2.5 is coming out. hopefully later today.

I though i read somewhere Mik is done with MikG and Mik3d was his new baby?

nope, the changelog for mikg2.5 is up. but the download link is not up yet. he does a bunch of different roms. i hope now that 2.5 is up, that he can finish the mik3d rom.

I will try the mike2.5 is there a tutorial on how to run the program. Also does that rom to use the sprint hotspot. I have never ran a Rom file and this the first time I rooted a phone. Also thanks everyone on all the the responses.

I'm using the app from that link and it works great for me. I'm running the Evolved Mik3d ROM right now.. No problems here.

yeah i do not think that the steps are necessary anymore. the app works great though.
