A serious discussion about Launchers

What do you use?
Show me a picture of it?
Show me a picture of your sister?
Is she hot?
What's the best launcher and why?

- LauncherPro.
- Are you a Basix user? If so, you've seen it. ;)
- Go f(ck yourself.
- Seriously, go f(ck yourself. ;)
- LauncherPro - it's lightweight, customizable, stable, actively developed, and, of course, free.

I'll start.

I'm not happy with any of them right now, and because I'm a chatty Cathy, we is gonna discuss it.

You know I'm a basix user :p I like launcher pro as well, it just seems too bare bones for me.

I kinda feel the same way about all the launchers I've tried, although I have a hard time defining what else it should be doing. I don't know what but it seems like it should be more.

What do you think your looking for in a launcher that your not getting?

I'm not sure why you think that - it's endlessly customizable. Hit Menu > Preferences from the home screen and play around. Try the 3D drawer, cranking up the number of home screens, changing the dock image, turning on or off the status bar, etc.

i have to agree about the experimental 3d drawer, though it wont work when the phone is horizontal it seems i still like it better then all the effects you can enable with go launcher. I used go launcher for probably the last 2 months, but now i've been using launcher pro and i'm pleased with its ram consumption and overall use/look, this is the free version and not the donate version mind you.

GO Launcher EX.
Pic below.

Don't know if it is the best but I like it. I can customize the tray and there are 3 different trays to customize. Just slide to change.

I like GoLaucherEX and Zeam. I used Zeam on my Ascend (less memory) but like the
configuration options on GoLauncherEx.

As a side note, go look at Animated Widget Pro. It really declutters the home screen.

I have 5 setup on my home screen;
1) Apps I use frequently (navigation, maps, browser, market and file manager)
2) PIM shortcuts (email, calendar, phone, messaging and contacts)
3) Media shortcuts (pandora, moboplayer, uber player and photo gallery)
4) Coworkers I call frequently
5) Shortcuts of all the ways to contact my wife (home, cell, text and email).

I may try Zeam again now that I have the app above installed.
