I would be surprised if the Verizon version is sold by Goolge but anything is possible. Also seems strange that the Incredible may be out at the same time and is rather similar to the Nexus.
Back when N1 was announced, Verizon clarified that "the Nexus One will not be offered via any Verizon websales, phone sales or stores, instead being solely distributed by Google’s own webstore". That could change but due to this statement, and the verizon "coming soon" option on the N1 website, the expectation is that the N1 will NOT be sold by VZW.... the Incredible will be :D

I honestly think the htc desire is the european version of the nexus one and the htc incredible is the verizon version

I think the N1 will be the same on all carriers, can't see Google/HTC changing it for different carriers. I do believe that the Incredible will be Verizons version of the Desire. Think about it Google said it would release the N1 for Verizon this spring not the Incredible, and in the video we saw the start up screen with the Verizon logo and the back plate with the name the Incredible.

I really think the Nexus, Desire, and Incredible will all end up being different phones out for Verizon. I see the Incredible out this spring with the Nexus One because I don't think VZW cares how many Nexus's sell. And then the Desire will come out in Europe this Spring and later in the year for VZW because we never get the best phones first.

I kind of agree too, google said at the release of the N1 that they were making the N1 because other companies were fragmenting Android so badly so I would be surprised if they released a "Nexus 1" with Sense. (of course with all the rumors running around, I honestly can't remember if google actually said that or even if the incredible will actually have sense on it) and then I think back to the leaked roadmap from way back when and remember seeing the "bravo" being called the incredible in the description (sigh, now I'm even more confused)

Anyway, as far as the Incredible goes, I am really hoping it comes with two backplates (a normal one and the red ridges "promo" one.

Droid came out first in the USA and on Verizon.

another thing I kinda just thought of with the red backplate...there is no battery door on the back of this phone. that tells me that this is either a case for the phone or the phone doesn't have a removable battery (which I would be very surprised)

are there other smartphones out that require you to remove the entire backplate to change the battery?

I was just watching the video of the incredible and had this thought.

Actually several of the new HTC phones have removable backplates. The Touch HD Mini and HTC Desire's backplates both come completely off to reveal the battery and sim card slot.

thanks wonderbread, I wasn't sure about that, guess it was just wishful thinking :) not to mention I was drooling over the looks of the desire all last week and never noticed it was a solid back.

Completely true. It's possible the final unit may not have a dual led flash like we've seen in picture of this oh so low end device compared to the Desire (yes, sarcasm).

It's not the specs that concern me. That's still very much in the air so it could be every bit as good as the Desire. The problem is that side by side, the Desire beats the Incredible in looks, hands down.

If you're into square edges, extra unused real estate in relation to the display, and a free-form bright red back cover, more power too you. :)

just remember, the looks are as much in the air as the specs for the incredible. there have been no official pics of the incredible. I really don't believe we will see a final pic of the incredible until very soon before it is actually released. remember how much the desire changed in two weeks...I rememebr people complaining that they didn't like the plastic border around the screen on the leaked pictures of the desire, two weekls later ir is officially released and they had done away with those plastic parts and rounded the edges and changed the buttons to silver, etc. I still truly believe that the incredible will look quite a bit diffeent than the leaked pics we saw.
